People are urged to register their phone number and national ID number to use the service.
What could possibly go wrong with that??

That line is getting old.
China already has the data. This just lets the people have access.

Possible and theoretical results after close contact registered by the app:
“Medical staff” will pay a home visit, take your temperature. If you have a raised temperature, they will chain your door shut from the outside; if you have a high temperature and other symptoms, they will administer the test kit and take you to the hospital; if you are really sick, they will forcibly remove you and others from the dwelling sending all to a sealed quarantine camp to get well or die on their own.
Deaths, after recovery, from organ failure will be treated as a ‘normal’ death with the body cremated per CCP order.

You’ll find out soon enough if you were in contact with someone contagious. You could also have been in contact but your immune system destroyed it, so why risk being carted off by the authorities somewhere where everyone has it?

Right. That certainly won’t come back to bite you in the People’s Republic.
