President Donald Trump directed the Department of Interior to open up more federal lands for energy production and recreation, including in Utah where he downsized massive amounts of land put off limits by the Obama administration.

The Department of Interior announced the finalized plan last week even as environmentalists challenge Trump’s 2017 proclamations to return the boundaries Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante monuments to be consistent with the Antiquities Act of 1906.

Oh, I’m sure Mittens will have something to say about it. Nobody outside of Salt Lake City will give a damn, but he’ll have his opinion. *THWAP*

Didn’t Bill Clinton close off a lot of land in Utah that made sure his Indonesian donor was protected because it had lots of coal?

Not right away....He has to do some praying first. He’s deeply religious ya know...unlike the pagan senators who voted to acquit the President. /s

This is good, but it isn’t news.

“moves to.” “mulls”. “considers”. “about to.”

This is NOT NEWS. (Not yelling at you, but it so irritates me that so-called “news” has now come to reporting stuff that hasn’t happened.

Butt it “could” happen. LOL! I get it. And it has my ecowanker acquaintances with vapors. Sort of like ‘sea level rise’ in their pea brains means places like nyc, miami, sf, la will be completely submerged under hundreds of feet of water. Their conclusion on the Bears Ears and Escalante is that they will be bulldozed to level ground within a year or two with oil well everywhere. Are they clueless fidiots? Yup.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

bubba was “quid pro coal” before “quid pro quo” was cool.

his benefactor, Indonesian billionaire mocotar riady, who finance bubba’s first run for president, had control of the only place in the world with low sulfur coal outside Utah’s grand staircase-escalante “national monument”

I don’t get tired of the winning. Can’t we just give Trump a 3rd term? Assuming this winning continues, of course.

I live in UT. We drove through Grand Staircase/Escalante NM a couple years ago. One day we went a little over 100 miles (from Page area to Escalante) on dirt, slick rock and sand without seeing anyone until the last 10 miles when we saw 2 cowboys on horses herding some weak-looking steers. While some of it is geologically beautiful, most of it is “nothing”...with no one. The NM is over 1,800,000 acres. Outside the boundaries there are untold similar acres with nothing and no one. People need to get out of their cities and see how much nothing there is out here.

Yup. Not like you kind grind them up for feed or anythin...... Hey, could we grind them up and use them for roadbed. Oh, never mind. If the demodrones have their way we peons won’t be needing roads anyway. :-)

Total agree. most people have never been out of state and some never out of the town, city etc.

Like some people are fond of saying at times: kids should join the military to grow up & learn about the real world among other things, well kids should travel the US to understand who they are where they are - not to mention lucky. Sadly they don’t grow up and have no idea where they are who they are where they came from and how fortunate they are to live in the US.
