I see both sides. Yes, life is precious and marriage is sacred. The problem is that the Pastor’s “prayer” was a speech and it was just too long. Sheesh. The seven minute prayer could have been said in three minutes. The politicians were nervous that the pastor would talk forever. The topic of marriage triggered the anxiety of the politicians. Moral of the story: do not exploit the wonderful opportunity to pray before the council meeting.

I respectfully disagree.

Whenever the pastor got to the sanctity of human life part, one minute or seven minutes, it was suddenly “too long” and gaveled into destruction by the Dem woman.

Again (as has been said for probably two thousand years) if you don’t want a prayer to run seven minutes don’t invite an actual preacher to give it. I learned that that was true and that it didn’t seem to matter what denomination the guy was from before I was eight years old.
