Coronavirus can be spread through people who arent exhibiting symptoms of the illness, the director of the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention said Thursday.
Dr. Robert Redfield confirmed reports out of China that the virus can spread when the person is still asymptomatic, according to CNN.
Theres been good communication with our colleagues to confirm asymptomatic infection, to confirm asymptomatic transmission, to be able to get a better handle on the clinical spectrum of illness in China, Redfield told the outlet.
Redfield said its not known how much the asymptomatic cases are contributing to the spread of the virus which has sickened more than 60,000 people worldwide but the discovery is concerning.
What Ive learned in the last two weeks is that the spectrum of this illness is much broader than was originally presented. Theres much more asymptomatic illness, he said.

For those same two weeks the US CDC poo poo'd that and stated outright it's not possible.
There is no evidence on record indicating we should trust ANY official channel.
Their goal is not your goal.

Sort of like Communism...
To be fair to the CDC, they were (rightfully) castigated quite a lot in the last couple decades for playing Chicken Little instead of doing even cursory review. They’ve since dialed it back too much in the opposite direction - they are far too cautious about such announcements now. On the other hand, they’re more than 100% convinced that something is so when they finally do confirm it weeks behind everyone else.
Many diseases are spread by people who are immune to them.
It has always been my understanding that a disease is the most contagious when it is incubating in a person, just before symptoms manifest. Therefore, since there are no visible warning signs, that is when it is most dangerous.
“Theyve since dialed it back too much in the opposite direction - they are far too cautious about such announcements now.”
Hopefully they don’t kill anybody.
And only time will tell.
They let dozens, if not hundreds from Wuhan China go about their merry way because they didn’t have a fever.
My grandmother died as one of the millions killed by the "Spanish Flu" in early 1919, probably while our Johnnies came marching (or limping) home, bringing the flu with them.
Beware, all y'all!
I’m not entirely sure, but I think I recall that CDC wasn’t *denying* that asymptomatic spreading was possible, but were saying instead that it was not proven that it was happening. That’s a bit different.

I was talking to my wife about voter fraud. I told her that Democrats have no problem with fraud, since it always works in their favor. I get that, and that is who they are (for people who still don’t realize that, don’t blame me, it’s YOUR issue).
And then I talked to her about why Republicans refuse to stand up to it. And the reason is...because Republicans are SCARED TO DEATH of the American public losing faith in our election system, in fact so scared that they’re willing to tolerate the huge amount of fraud we have.
I see the SAME THING here. Our leaders are trying to avoid a PANIC, and to a lesser extent, they’re trying to avoid stereotyping Asians as potential carriers, and if that means playing down the threat - and thereby putting the entire country at risk, then so be it.
As to Trump, he relies on these people, most of who hate him. It sucks, but he could easily lose re-election if this thing isn’t taken seriously (and so far, it is not - we STILL have flights from China landing here...).

Coronavirus can be spread by people who dont show symptoms, CDC warns
I don’t think it’s about immunity. This disease seems to affect people differently. Some get deathly sick while others, perhaps a great many others get a sore throat or a runny nose and it passes. A very bad nightmare if you are in the former cayegory.
The point being...
that is no different than any other communicable disease.
It's officially a zombie apocalypse.Bring Out Your DeadAt 5:43

ZOMBIES!!!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
I feel fine and my temperature and BP are normal.
It’s really got me worried!
Who is running the Walking Dead thread?

Trust but verify Chinese stats...
If your pulse ain’t zero and your breath fogs a mirror, you’re doing great!
Obama holdovers.
How is this a surprise? Communicable diseases can be spread by anyone who has the disease, symptomatic or not.
I obviously don’t know and cannot say for sure, but just occam’s razor it. This disease comes from bats. But bats are in hibernation right now. The disease is a hybrid combination from bats and other animals. The disease centers around Wuhan city, wherein smack-dab in the middle of the city is a research facility looking into bioweapons. And now the Chinese military have taken full military control of the facility.
I am not alleging anything intentional, though covert actions by some government is not impossible. More likely, someone inadvertently took this weaponized version of the virus out of the isolation lab.
Agreed, except the pint that China quarantined 53 million (now 400 million) should have been a huge sign to the US that things were much worse than expected.
