WASHINGTON The Justice Department recently opened an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the FBI's interview of Michael Flynn while he was serving as President Donald Trump's national security adviser, according to two people familiar with the inquiry.
Flynn pleaded guilty to giving false statements to the FBI during that interview, but recently asked to withdraw that plea, further delaying his sentencing.
Attorney General William Barr asked the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, Jeffrey Jensen, to look into Flynn's FBI interview, the people familiar with the inquiry said. The inquiry began within the past month, they said.
Around that same time, federal prosecutors on the Flynn case came under pressure from senior Justice Department officials to recommend a lighter sentence for Flynn than they had proposed, according to people familiar with the matter.
A third person familiar with the inquiry said Jensen is broadly reviewing the Flynn case.
Asked about the inquiry into Flynn's FBI interview, a spokesperson for Jensen said, "I can't answer those questions" and directed questions to the Justice Department.

Before you crow too loud, let's wait to see what his sentence will be. And of course he has the right to appeal, so don't count your chickens yet.
Yawn
Yawn
Mark Steyn is good, he’s smart and funny.
Avenatti tried to blackmail/extort Nike for $25M. Has nothing to do with the coup against President Trump or any of the actors involved.
Funny you should mention 'swift justice' on a thread such as this.
“Barr has been AG exactly 1 year today. “

Yeah, I can read. Perhaps you might consider not just reading something but looking at the trend in all the other matters referred regarding the Trump election. You might come to the conclusion, this is a placation. Flynn was mistreated, so was Stone, Popadopolos, Manafort et al. I don’t need another review or committee to come to that conclusion and neither should the DOJ. BTW, don’t confuse mistreatment with how the matter was handled by the Court. They are NOT reviewing that, it is beyond their jurisdiction at this point. He pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing. Meanwhile, obstruction charges against Hitlery, Failure to register as a foreign agent by Podesta, leaking info to the news and lying by Comey and McCabe, Lying to Congress by Brennan and Clapper-nada. Anyone reviewing any of that....NO.
When the scorecard reads like 10 to zero, I can see why you may not want a scorecard. If you think the other side is not counting, you are sadly mistaken.
Interesting links, thanks.
1 The “scorecard” doesn’t read 10 to zero.
2. Everyone you mentioned being convicted was prosecuted or referred by Mueller. He’s gone.
3 Flynn lighter sentence and case review, Avenatti convicted, Durham probe, Impeachment won, FISA court admitted wrongdoing.
Maybe McCabe got traded for Flynn?
Maybe McCabe got traded for Flynn?
You ever play chess? We have given up a few knights or bishops to take two pawns.
OK, I guess we are going to have to disagree on this. I think the fat lady has sung, you don’t. So be it. Over my 25+ years of experience with fed corruption cases, I have never seen one brought to its proper conclusion when the low hanging or bottom rung people get off without a scratch. Daily Caller agrees with you and says lets see where this ends up albeit it looks bad today.
Liu is out as USA in DC, Shey is in, maybe that means something.
Ok that’s a cool summary. I can’t predict the future. I do have faith in Barr.
Window dressing. They wont charge ANYONE. No one will be presecuted. Ony Flynn. Zero confidence. None, NADA, ZIPPO!
Why are they announcing in advance what they are investigating? Fair warning to get all stories straight?
If you have to ask.......
