Woman blames NYC sanctuary policy for her grandmother's death

A woman whose 92-year-old grandmother was slain in a sanctuary city-related killing blamed New York City Friday for her death, and praised President Trump for fighting the city to end the policy.

Speaking at the White House next to President Trump, Daria Ortiz said her grandmother, Maria Fuertes, was a legal immigrant from the Dominican Republic who was a “shining example” of coming to the U.S. the right way.

Authorities say Fuertes was raped and killed by Reeaz Khan, 21.

ICE had tried to take custody of Khan after an arrest late last year but New York authorities ignored a detainer request, which ICE said allowed him to be out on the streets.

“The tragedy in all of this is that this could have been avoided had there been no sanctuary law,” Ms. Ortiz said. “The system not only failed our family but it failed our city.”

Mr. Trump and New York have been engaged in a fierce feud over sanctuary policies. The president met with Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday to try to work out a compromise on the state’s new sanctuary law banning Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from access to state driver’s records.

Sanctuary jurisdictions say immigrants won’t report crimes if they believe their police share information with federal immigration authorities.

Opponents of sanctuary cities say those protected by the policies often target those same immigrant communities for their crimes — and Ms. Fuertes’ case is the latest example.

She should! The people who foist these criminals on the citizenry go around with armed guards and live in walled mansions. It’s disgusting.

What kind of young man rapes a 92 year old woman? Most men don’t even “see” women over 45. And don’t give me any dumb feminist theory about power. These are sexual perverts that even Freud didn’t recognize.

They’re definitely broken and operating without moral constraints. And they tend to prey on the weak without concern of consequences. Their crimes are no doubt precipitated by egregious fantasies that developed over time.

This is one of the dumbest policy any city could enact.

Even if you believe that “illegal immigrants won’t report crimes if they fear being deported”, you can tailor the law to give so-called ‘sanctuary’ to victims and witnesses without releasing criminals into society.

I swear these leftists are absolutely mad and senseless liars.

It’s similar to the attempt to attack the 2nd Amendment. You want to stop violent criminals, then why go after law abiding citizens? Set up special task forces with the job of shaking down parolees and people on probation. If they are caught with weapons, throw them back in the slammer. Don’t make law abiding people criminals by changing the laws.

It’s just common sense.

Yes, we should allow them to be caged within their margins and not help them until they are willing to make the necessary governmental and police changes to allow the illegals to be deportef. . It is only through the malfeasance of the citizens that sanctuary cities exist in any form. I think the tax payers of Sanctuary cities are aiding and abetting this whole sanctuary city crap. That being the probable case, wall them off and do not allow out of city limits delivery of any type of goods. Let them experience what it is like to condemn the rural areas that provide them food etc and see what it is like to exist without the ruralsupport. Do not allow delivery of goods by sea or air or train or fleets of six-wheelers.

Same thing happened to a friends’ grandmother. She
was 94, the perp was 22. He escaped to Mexico and was
never caught. High on drugs or alcohol would be my
guess as to the contributing factor.

Cal Youth Authority circa 1980s 19 year old parolee goes into house. 82 year old woman at home He tries to rape her. She’s strong, kicks and bites and scratches and screams. He scares and runs out into the street. A car hits him and breaks his hip. He drags his leg down the street. Cops swoop and several people outside point at him. Went to prison for 5-7.

Read this and weep:

“Daniel Horowitz
@RMConservative
Alert! Tillis, Graham, and Lankford are pushing for a repeat of 1986 Ag amnesty unanimously passed by House Dems and sponsored by Lofgren, the impeachment manager. Nothing on criminal aliens and sanctuaries. Unreal.

Many in the admin support it too. They are trying to get Trump on board early - like the jailbreak playbook - to them create an aura of inevitability. This is what’s waiting for us on the other side of an election victory.

Remember, both Tillis and Graham got Trumps support to stave off challengers. Now they are back to amnesty.

In fact, they have not changed one iota since Trump, and what they are doing is getting him to change. And they are succeeding. If conservatives dont make demands of Trump, just remember, the swamp is getting to him EVERY day.”
