Alabama lawmaker responds to abortion ban with mandatory vasectomy bill: 'It always takes two to tango'
In response to last years near-total (and temporarily blocked) abortion ban in Alabama, a state legislator has introduced a bill that would require a man to undergo a vasectomy, at his own expense, within one month of his 50th birthday or the birth of his third biological child, whichever comes first.
House Bill 238, introduced on Thursday by Rep. Rolanda Hollis (D) notes, Under existing law, there are no restrictions on the reproductive rights of men.
The bill, Hollis says in a statement she shared with Yahoo Lifestyle, is meant to neutralize last years abortion ban bill, and sends the message that men should not be legislating what women do with their bodies. Further, she told AL.com, It always takes two to tango. We cant put all the responsibility on women. Men need to be responsible also.
Hollis responded to some of the outcry by including in her statement: Many have seen HB238 as an outrageous overstep; yet, year after year the majority party continues to introduce new legislation that tries to dictate a womans body and her reproductive rights. We should view this as the same outrageous overstep in authority.
She added, Just as I would turn to my doctor over my state legislator to make recommendations when deciding whether or not to have a surgery, or whether or not to take a certain type of medicine, it is my doctor with whom I or any of my loved ones should consult when it comes to making the incredibly difficult decisions related to my personal reproductive rights.

It’s time to target this DEMONRAT for replacement. But she is probably in a safe district, gerrymandered into existence.
“The bill, Hollis says in a statement she shared with Yahoo Lifestyle, is meant to neutralize last years abortion ban bill, and sends the message that men should not be legislating what women do with their bodies.
It isn’t a matter of what women do with their bodies. the issue is what women do to the bodies of their unborn children. If it was up to just their bodies, I would agree. But they are acting for another body, that at that point has no say in the termination of its life.
We are talking about abortion and if she’s interested in women not being told what to do with their bodies, then don’t create the child by playing the game. Otherwise it is rape and that’s another issue not related to a “getting even” bill. That’s criminal and has been already provided for many decades ago. Another disingenuous politician using her stump for personal beliefs. A true Maxine Waters in training.

Thank you for using DemonRat. Ive been using it for years hoping it would catch on. I think it conveys most accurately exactly what these people have become.
Looks like she is only getting the over 50 ones.
What happens if a married couple with two children decides to have a third child, but it turns out to be twins? Does the father get thrown in jail or just fined?
The words “Women’s reproductive rights” translate to “Kill the baby”. What will Men’s reproductive rights translate to?
Requiring her picture to be taped to the headboard of every bed in Alabama would be a much more effective method of stopping men from reproducing than requiring vasectomies.
Why dosen’t she submit a bill for the mandatory tubal ligation of all women that have a elective abortion also? Think of all the potential lives saved as well as all the money? Then the men and women that want to be able to tango without responsibility can.
