I would not put too much emphasis on this yet, but it in interesting.

For example, why is Utah considered lower risk than England?

This all seems a bit out there, to me.

Well, I did a DNA analysis via 23andMe and it is amazing how precise they can be with geography.

They knew nothing about me but just had some spit in a tube.

They correctly identified the geographic location of my grandfather’s village! They did the same for my mom - we thought it was wrong, but later found out that it was right and my mom’s information about her origins was wrong.

They can see markers and genes and identify where they come from and where they are prevalent.

My guess is that this work looked at where these receptors were most and/or least prevalent.

It seems Europeans and Africans are immune to a lot more pathogens - perhaps due to the fact that both were exposed to tons of plagues over the millenia...

Anyway, thought it was interesting so posted it... food for thought for us armchair medical researchers and epidemiologists... :)

My guess is that Utah is on list due to Lds missionaries around the world: They only spend 2 yrs in the field & around half of them are returning home in 2020...not just to Utah but predominately Utah.

“Why Utah lower risk than England”

Reads like they had a single data point for Utah....

...but, my wild unfounded conjecture would be that drier, lower oxygen, and potentially higher acidic climate in much of Utah would tend to be less virus friendly than damp, cold, mossy old England...regardless of ACE2 receptor count.

But I am neither a doctor nor do I play one on TV. I have however, stayed at an HI Express, but not lately.

For example, why is Utah considered lower risk than England?

The British were the colonial rulers of southeast Asia. As a result, there may be significant genetic mixing. Also, because of GB's historic ties to southeast Asia, a lot of Asian's from that area live in the UK. Indeed, according to Wikipedia, almost 7% of the UK population is Asian.

most likely due to white male Mormons who don’t drink or smoke and they normally have traveled overseas as a missionary and are usually more healthy
