There’s a lot of history here in VA, starting with Col Ollie North in ‘94 - when he WON the GOP Senate nomination, the GOPe ran a third party candidate to ensure he would lose in the general election - I still haven’t gotten over that
It worked for Murkowski in Alaska. Maybe she’ll get the nomination from the GOP and it won’t be an issue. Not sure if Trump would support her in a primary but it would certainly be helpful if he did.
In Alaska’s case, it gave us Turdkowski.
