History doesnt repeat itself, but it sometimes rhymes, Mark Twain is reputed to have said.
My first job after law school was as an attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice. I reported for work September 1974, just weeks after Richard Nixon resigned.
In the years leading up to his resignation, Nixon turned the Justice Department and FBI into his personal fiefdom, enlisting his political appointees to reward his friends and penalize his enemies. Reports about how compromised the Justice Department had become generated enough public outrage to force the appointment of the first Watergate special prosecutor, Archibald Cox.

Nixon has been dug up so much lately he will need a new burial site.
Robert Reich. I once had to listen to him in person at university. He can stand toe to toe and eye to eye with Mini Mike Bloomberg!
Reich is trying to out-Goebbles Goebbels.
Wow, there’s an original thought, Bob.
Maybe you should pay John Dean to come tell us all how it’s worse than Watergate.
Reich’s analysis comes up a little short.
By the way, was the amazingly qualified Robert Kennedy related to anyone in power when he was appointed A.G.?
Hmm.. I was sure all the munchkins of the lollipop guild had died... yet, theres little robert.
Shut up, runt.
Reich wasnt here during Obama and his Justice Department right?
Reich IV
The political shrimp speaks.
who cares what this malignant drawf has to say about anything? He was the one who was publicly worried that from the 0bama Stimulus might go to white guys. Poisonous shrimpy racist.
An angry little communist troll. The fact that he has TDS should be no surprise.
I’ll tell you what continues to amaze me is that President Trump is obviously threatening the permanent political class. Regardless of where you stand in the political spectrum, you should cheer this. But the media is so powerful, that the public is so inattentive, that rather than cheer, a significant part of the public has been infected with TDS.
I literally shake my head when I think about it.
And that's how we all know this is a scam. Every single time a Republican is at the helm of something the leftists shriek about "Watergate", "Nixon", or whatever, but all during the Clinton and Obama years they endlessly parade on TV talk shows defending the illegal and defenseless actions of the Dem president. Complete and utter hypocrisy. To the left, outrage is just another tool in their toolbox. The Left simply seeks to use the Conservative's moral compass against them. Those who know no shame seek to inflict shame on others.
No, he didn't.In 1973, for some reason, he forced his Attorney General Richard Kleindienst to resign and replaced him with Elliot Richardson. Kleindienst was a Goldwater man and Richardson was an Ivy League liberal. Richardson then chose Archibald Cox, a Kennedy man, to go after the Kennedy family's arch-enemy.
Had the DOJ really been Nixon's "personal fiefdom," this would never have happened.
Is this demented dwarf still around? He should be tossed in a bar.
The endless torrent of outrage directed at Trump by liberals has backfired badly - no one pays much attention to it anymore, not even the liberals.
I wish President Trump would be silent so soem of these political problems could subside. He is always a brute and a showoff looking for attention instead of showing good sense and self discipline. Reflects poorly on his parents.
