40 months better than 9 years!!! The prosecutors lied to their superiors about sentencing recommendations. I thought judge was going to wait until motion about new trial and juror was decided? Barr handled that well leaving it up to judge to determine sentence.
The judge always sentences, not the DOJ. The DOJ recommends a sentence, which Barr thought was excessive in this case. That’s what makes this brouhaha over the sentencing so ridiculous. Trump (or Barr) was not interfering with the administration of justice as the sentencing was not in their hands.
I am not going to opine on the case regarding Stone.
Heard Stone will not begin to serve time until it is determined if he gets a retrial.
