Bernie Sanders pushed for a contested convention in 2016. Now he wants to avoid one.

With the potential of a contested convention on the horizon for Democrats, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Wednesday staked out a notably different position on delegates during the ninth Democratic debate.

Asked if the candidate with the most pledged delegates should be the Democratic nominee — even if that candidate did not have a majority of pledged delegates — Sanders said, “the will of the people should prevail, yes. The person who has the most votes should become the nominee.”

It is the opposite of what Sanders and his campaign said in 2016, even after Hillary Clinton had secured the majority of pledged delegates.

“The responsibility that superdelegates have is to decide what is best for this country and what is best for the Democratic Party,” Sanders said on May 1, 2016. “And if those superdelegates conclude that Bernie Sanders is the best candidate, the strongest candidate to defeat Trump and anybody else, yes, I would very much welcome their support.” ...

And even as Clinton secured the Democratic nomination the following week, Sanders continued to push for superdelegates to vote to override Clinton’s pledged delegate majority.

Told on June 7, 2016, that his superdelegate convention push would defy history and the will of the voters, Sanders said, “Defying history is what this campaign has been about."

1.) 2016: superdelegates should override for me.

2020: If I am winning, do the opposite because it's all about me.

2.) 2015-2016 in debates, speeches, on Twitter, etc: millionaires and billionaires are pouring unlimited money into PAC'S and are evil and bad for this and other reasons.

2020: now only billionaires are bad as he is now a millionaire, a socialist millionaire at that, and he doesn't bash millionaires anymore during debates, in speeches, and rarely on Twitter. It's still all about him.

If it weren't for double standards Democrats would have no standards at all.

That was then, this is now. Bernie is changing the criteria for evaluation of the delegates counts. Since he expects he would have a plurality of delegates, he expects delegates pledged to other candidates to put him over the top.

He expects this because, just because he now benefits from such a plan.

Looking at my comments in 1.) and 2.) above, Sanders turns out to be a selfish person.

I didn’t think that Socialists were selfish people.

Scratch that...

He mooched off of people during the years before he was 40 and never held down a full-time job, with not a hint of anything even close to a disability, lived off of one of his wives and then from age 40 until now, he has lived off the taxpayers.

Yeah, it looks like it’s still all about him and always has been...

Under any possible scenario, Sanders made it clear he didn’t care how he got over the top.

Nothing on earth exposes you of being a phony better than politics. Especially if you’re of the left.

At age 30, Bernie was also kicked out of a dope-smoking Vermont hippie commune—for “shirking”. (Sitting around smoking dope, talking politics, not doing his share of the work.)

Bernie is a leech deadbeat hypocrite, always has been! Who gets kicked out of a doper commune for being lazy LMAO?!?

It benefitted Bernie to bash both millonaires and billionaires in 2016, but not now as he is a millionaire,so he no longer bashes millonaires.

Bloomberg exposed Bernie’s weakness and Bernie’s face lit up, his countenance changed, his eyes filled with rage.

Bloomberg nailed him on his hypocrisy, being a millionaire socialist, so Bernie’s retort was he was a millionaire socialist because of living in DC.

And he lied about one of his homes being a mere campground. A $600,000 campground?

All the others, as said at the Daily Wire, were beating Bloomberg like a pinata and when it was Bernie’s turn to beat the pinata, Bloomberg was the pinata that took the stick from Bernie and beat Bernie with it.

Comrade Bernie is consist in one way: he is as much of a hypocrite as has been every other Communist in government service. He has his dachas, but the Proletariat should be happy to be in food lines.

What do you want, Bernie? Another house? Maybe a gigantic sea-going yacht you can cruise all around Lake Champlain overturning the peon’s boats.

Bernie has won both races so far. Hillary wasn’t winning races, but she was getting the super delegates.

Actually, Pete won Iowa, and Bernie and Pete tied in New Hampshire. Bernie currently trails Pete by 1 delegate. Such is the problem with proportional delegates. Winning doesn’t mean much if you receive significantly less than 50% of the delegates. As long as there are 3 or more candidates getting 15% in each state, no candidate will secure enough delegates to win the first ballot in Milwaukee. Bernie might go to Milwaukee with “the most” delegates, but he probably won’t have the required 1991+ to win. It’s chaos.

Clinton was ahead of Bernie by 359 state delegates, and would have won even if the super delegates were removed.

Sanders said, “Defying history is what this campaign has been about."

As in, socialism will work 'this time'.

And also the media surreptitiously changes brokered to contested as easily as they changed red to blue as the democrat color.
