Presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., unveiled a new plan for universal child care if he is elected in November, saying in an interview airing Sunday that a wealth tax would pay for it.
The proposal would offer free child care from infancy to pre-kindergarten up to the age of four, Sanders told Anderson Cooper on CBS News' "60 Minutes."
The idea was yet another in a slew of progressive plans laid out by the self-proclaimed democratic-socialist, plans that he said would be funded by increased taxation on America's wealthy.
Sanders expressed his disdain for opponents -- even some within his own party running against him for the presidential nomination -- who have expressed skepticism at the possibility that enough funding existed for all of his ideas, which also included "Medicare-for-all," free college tuition and eliminating student debt.
"I get a little bit tired of hearing my opponents saying-- 'Gee, how you going to pay for a program that impacts and helps children or working-class families or middle-class families? How you going to pay for that?'" Sanders said. "And yet, where are people saying, 'How are you going to pay for over $750 billion on military spending?' How you going to pay for a trillion dollars in tax breaks to the one-percent in large corporations, which was what Trump did? When you help the billionaires and you help Wall Street, 'Hey! Of course we can pay for it. That's what America's supposed to be about.' Well, I disagree."
Although Sanders would not put a dollar amount to each of his proposals, he said he was confident that the funding existed to put them into place if he's elected in November.
"Obviously, those are expensive propositions, but we have done our best on issue after issue-- in paying for them,"

The Democrat party is run by wealthy lib gentry types who want to make more money and keep what they have. They deserve to pay more I hope they are satisfied with what their party is becoming. This puts them in a real bind. And as far as those passive do nothing country club Republicans. They may want to think twice about open borders that are designed to make the Democrat party the dominate party. They may also want to buy some media outlets instead of just sitting there with both thumbs up their a__es.
