Since only 12.1% of Americans are "black" we're not talking about the majority of the population.
Also MOST African-Americans are NOT 100% African. My mother, husband and I visited KENYA some years ago. What we saw in the 42 different Kenyan tribes is that their color IS black, not the "caffe au lait" color of most African-Americans here.
One can readily see why the first European visitors called the locals "black."

Blacks might actually vote against Mayor Pete because of his perversions IF someone were to make an issue of it. Nobody in either party is going to. Blacks in California famously voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama and against gay marriage in 2008. Well, the gay stuff was explicitly on the ballot.

Mayor Pete’s problems with black voters have nothing to do with his homosexuality. He’s a white male from the Midwest who doesn’t really pander to black voters very much. Until a few months ago, nobody had heard of him. He offers them nothing over the standard Democrat menu, if that much.

I’ll go with conventional wisdom, at least with regards to S. Carolina. There is a large bloc of Christian black people who don’t hold well to homosexuality or other sexual perversions.

Buttplug won’t do well in southern states, period. People south of the Mason-Dixon line have much stronger moral values than the folks up north...I think.

One holds that Black voters tend to be more religious and hold somewhat conservative views in that regard, and they object to the whole gay marriage subject on moral/religious grounds. The other argument holds that the Black community is simply less tolerant of gay people in general, which sounds like a pretty offensive generalization.

How is that generalization offensive? No one is saying that all blacks think that way or that black people are homophobic because they have darker skin. THOSE comments would be offensive (and stupid). But this is just a recognition of something that is clearly true. Compared to white people, the black community is not as accepting of gay guys. One may not like that fact, but not liking that something is so doesn't make it 'offensive' to point it out.
