McCarthy predicts Democrats will lose House, says they have ‘surrendered to the socialists’

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy boldly predicted Friday that Democrats will lose the majority in the House of Representatives this cycle with Bernie Sanders at the top of their ticket, saying the party has “surrendered to the socialists.”

In an interview with Fox News on the sidelines of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) outside Washington, McCarthy weighed in on the warnings from within the Democratic Party that a Sanders nomination could endanger their hold on the House under Nancy Pelosi. McCarthy would be in line for the speakership should the chamber flip — and he eagerly played up those internal party tensions.

“The Democrats have surrendered to the socialists,” McCarthy told Fox News. “There is a reason why Bernie Sanders is going to become their nominee and that’s because this is no longer the Democratic Party — this is a socialist Democratic Party.”

“With AOC, [Rep. Rashida] Tlaib, [Ilan] Omar — they don’t call themselves Democrats,” he continued. “They call themselves socialist Democrats.”

McCarthy was underscoring the narrative of the conservative conference itself, where numerous President Trump allies hammered the message that his administration and campaign are fighting for America against socialism, represented by Democratic figures like Sanders.

“This is where the party has gone. ... That’s why they’re going to lose the majority,” the California Republican told Fox News.

McCarthy touted the accomplishments of the Trump administration, saying that with “four more years” of President Trump “the next century would be ours.”

When asked whether he believed Sanders, I-Vt., would be the Democratic nominee, McCarthy said he is a figure that best represents the current state of the party. “The Democrats are going to nominate who they think best represents them,” he said. “And I think, as today’s socialist Democratic Party, Bernie is their person representing them best.”

We have to elect better Republicans than we had in 2017-18 who wasted the first two years of the Trump administration obstructing the President.

Paul Ryan was a big reason Dems took the house the last time around.

McCarthy is engaging in a little political wishful thinking.

Here in California, the massive number of aliens is simply pushing out any hope of the “Republicans” who were diselected in 2018 getting back in.

The RINO squishes have no body but themselves to blame for that. They been on the mass immigration bandwagon for decades, believing that if they went along with it they would not appear to be mean.

Didn’t matter. They got dumped anyway. The aliens want Stuff and they gonna git it by electing professional thieves and shakedown artists (”Democrats”). That’s how it works where they come from, so they figure its cool here.

No appeal to lofty egalitarian Republican ideals are going to do anything to change that.

So it’s gonna be a tough sled for KevKev, who’s part of the problem. He and his squish buddy - Paul Ryno - threw the last election after pissing away 2 years, as you said. Same as 2005-2006.

Either the R party becames a solid wave of Trumpists or they drown. The Rats have shown over the last 3 years that they will stop at NOTHING to get power and destroy the opposition.

McCarthy aint got the stones to do that. Trump does, but he’s one guy.

Don’t forget Irish Bob O’Rourke.
Or Pete Buttigieg, son of a Marxist professor who’s life’s work was the study and promotion of Italian Communist Antonio Gramsci.

“Paul Ryan was a big reason Dems took the house the last time around.”

And now he’s doing his best to take down FNC. Rumor has it Ryan is a fan of Peter Buttigieg.

While some Dems act nervous about a commie getting elected, they never do fess up to the insanity of the commie policies themselves.

If we don’t get rid of the Bush League Republicans they will eventually get their amnesty and a permanent Democrat majority.
We are failing to give Trump back up.
He could help by not endorsing them.
McCain and Romney worked out pretty badly.
Grahamnesty will too.
He and Tillis are working on amnesty right now, after he endorsed them.
There will have been no point in electing Trump if the Bush League Republicans give away the country after his time is up anyway.

I reckon the GOP intentionally conceded the house to the dems so they could block Trump without being seen as blocking Trump themselves. Unprecedented number of surprise retirements from GOP incumbents in safe districts right before the election plus a general lack of effort showed that they wanted the loss.

I'd vote them back in over the dems, but I'll never fully trust them. Ever.

This could happen, as long as the GOP actually makes the effort to win elections. Other than Trump, this has not been the case for at least a decade.

I see gains in the house. Trump is going to drive those voters who sat out 2018 to vote down ticket.

Two years ago McCarthy was predicting the Republicans would hold the House. His crystal ball is a bit suspect.

Mayor Pete, Amy and Bernie would sign the same bills and appoint similar judges.
