TALLAHASSEE Two people in Florida have tested positive for the coronavirus, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Sunday night, the first two cases of the virus in the state.
The two patients are from Hillsborough and Manatee counties, according to the governor, who directed Surgeon General Scott Rivkees. to declare a public health emergency.
DeSantis also announced news conferences Monday in Tampa and Miami
Both people tested presumptively confirmed for the virus, indicating they had not been tested again by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The news comes two days after federal officials expanded testing criteria and Florida became capable of processing tests within the state.
On Saturday, all three Florida Department of Health labs in Miami, Tampa and Jacksonville became capable of testing for novel coronavirus, cutting the wait times for results to within 24 to 28 hours. For weeks, the tests were being sent to a federal lab in Atlanta, which was producing results within three to five days.
On Friday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also expanded its criteria for who should be tested. Physicians should now determine whether any patient with severe pneumonia symptoms should be tested, regardless of their travel history, the agency advised.

In other words — two new cases of colds in Florida
Lets keep perspective here
I think it’s been in most states for awhile. How many people actually go to the hospital and get tested?
My whole family had the flu last month, and we didn’t even go to the doctor. We just let it run it’s course.
Heck, for all I know, we could of had it.
So still only testing people with severe pneumonia? That's going to miss 80% of the cases...which means they're spreading it around.
Outbreaks are being planted by terrorists I now believe.
We are overrun nationwide with radicalized socialists, globalists and bernie bros. Yes they are in our schools hospitals and transportational institutions. Obama’s brownshirt terrorist army. AOC approves.
Their only hope to create a black Swan event before the election involves radical action by insane demon possessed partisans.
