U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), has awarded a contract to construct approximately 15 miles of new border wall system within U.S. Border Patrols (USBP) Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector located in Starr County, Texas.
This project will include a 30 foot tall steel bollard wall, all-weather roads, lighting, enforcement cameras, and other related technology to create a complete enforcement zone. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2020, pending availability of real estate, in locations where no barriers currently exist.
The contract was awarded to Southwest Valley Constructors Co. for a total contract value, including options, of $179,580,000. This project consists of four non-contiguous segments, which will connect to other new border wall segments, within Roma, Rio Grande City, Escobares, La Grulla and the census designated place of Salineño, Texas. This project is funded by CBPs Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 and 2019 appropriations.
Pursuant to the FY 2019 appropriation, CBP completed additional consultation with local elected officials from Starr County who represent the areas of Roma, Rio Grande City, Escobares, La Grulla and the census designated place of Salineño concerning the proposed alignment and design of the planned border wall system in the affected areas.

The 2019 appropriation funded a lot of high priority border wall in the Rio Grande Valley - but required the Federal Government to "Consult" with the local Governments in five named places (towns), on the barrier's route in their towns.
This contract award fills the more rural gaps between the required consultation areas in those towns.
CBP reports that they have completed the required consultation with the towns, so those contracts to complete the wall segments through those towns should following along soon, to build a long continuous barrier system.
In total, over 100 miles of barrier have been funded in the Rio Grande Valley - enough to shut down the area as a major corridor. Because of land acquisition delays and Legislative restrictions, contracting and construction have gone slower there, but it looks like that logjam is breaking up, and significant construction will occur there this year - supposedly, most of it was scheduled to complete this year.
I wonder if the rat candidate will run on tearing the wall down. I hope so.
Great post. Thanks. Winning. HOORAY U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and RGV. Sanctuarians...GIVE UP YOUR HOMES MOFOS. INVADERS need a nice place to stay.
Thanks Chief
Does my heart good to see this wall going up.
It's a shame it had to come to this, but what choice was there with all
the problems coming over the border.
Well, good.
The Wall is a complete waste of time and money. I would simply cut them off of every form of public assistance, including public education.
When our forefathers and mothers immigrated here at the turn of the last century, they somehow managed to create a network of ethnically-based fraternal societies, churches, and parochial schools. They arrived here with nothing.
Why isn’t the current wave of immigrants following suit?

What, you want to cut off the new supply of Democrat voters and spend American tax money on AMERICANS?
Wait a minute...
Sure, that will stop the Cartel's other activities, right?
