Biden raises $22 million, warns of 'increasingly negative' campaign from 'Bernie Brothers'

Former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said Friday that his campaign had raised $22 million in five days amid a surge in support following his South Carolina and Super Tuesday wins.

Biden's victory in 10 of 14 states that voted Tuesday not only resurrected a campaign that had been left for dead just weeks ago but vaulted the former vice president ahead of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the race for delegates for the Democratic nomination.

The former vice president shared his fundraising update on Friday during a call with supporters at a Bethesda, Md., fundraiser while also warning of an "increasingly negative" campaign from "Bernie Brothers."

"What we can't let happen is let this primary become a negative bloodbath," Biden said. "I know I'm going to get a lot of suggestions on how to respond to what I suspect will be an increasingly negative campaign that the Bernie Brothers will run."

"We can't tear this party apart and reelect Trump," he added. "We have to keep our eyes on the ball, in my view."

"Bernie Bros" has been the colloquial term for hard-line Sanders supporters since the 2016 election cycle. Despite Sanders's signature progressive policies, "Bernie Bros" have frequently received flak for aggressive tactics on social media platforms such as Twitter.

In February before the Nevada caucuses, supporters raised eyebrows after attacking Nevada's influential Culinary Union on Twitter for saying that Sanders's "Medicare for All" health care plan would strip union members of their existing health care coverage. Sanders rebuked and condemned the actions at the time, calling it "unacceptable."

[Bernie’s already been bought.]

Bernie’s so close to the nomination he can taste it. I doubt he can be bought. In 2016, his was a quixotic effort. In 2020, the nomination is Bernie’s to lose. Unless I’m very mistaken, he is gonna stomp Biden into the dirt. If he really is an admirer of Soviet Communism, merely restating facts about Biden mostly ignored by the media pales compared to the annual mass killings of peers and underlings carried out by Communist bigwigs against each other during the bloody first decades of the Bolshevik movement.

Sorry but you are mistaken. Burnie has assume his 2016 doormat position and Biden is about rub his shoes on him. This was over the moment after SC when obama forced Buttigieg/Klobuchar from the race and fixed the primary for Biden.

Warren's withdrawal without endorsing Biden means her voters go to Bernie. Until she endorses Biden, Bernie is still in the race. What Bernie needs to do is stick it to Biden with his own words during a debate. Whether he does so will be a surefire indicator as to whether he really wants to be the nominee.

When Biden is officially the nominee you can bet the Bernie bro’s will have a lot to say. i.e. burning down their neighborhoods and rioting.

Exactly right. Bernie is taking a dive now. Obongo put in the fix just before Super Tuesday and it was over. I think there is good chance the real rat candidate is still in the green room but first things first, they had to take out Bernie. It started in Iowa actually. They made damn sure Bernie did not win the first two events as it would give him a too much mo.

You and I certainly see things differently. Looks to me like Biden is going to win easily. And Bernie’s recent statements certainly sound bought. Or coerced. I wouldn’t put it past the DNC to threaten his family.

Biden didn’t raise a penny. It was raised FOR him by others.

This is one game I'd prefer to see ending in a scoreless tie!

The thing about Bernie is that he’s the socialist Romney. A Mr. Nice Guy, don’t want to look like a meanie type of pol. When your opponent is Biden, who lied for decades about his wife’s death being caused by a drunk driver rather than her driving into an intersection without looking, you are faced with a choice. Do you want to be President, or are you going to just sit there and take your scumbag opponent’s crap? For decades, Bernie’s had a fairly easy gig as a Congressman, then Senator. This is his moment of truth - his last chance at glory before he kicks the bucket. I’m betting he’s gonna bare the tyrannosaurus rex within. Because as Henry of Navarre once said, Paris is worth a Mass. In Bernie’s case, the presidency is worth getting his hands dirty.

I don’t know how Biden could possibly be the nominee. He admitted that 150 million Americans were killed from 2007....wouldn’t that be under Obama/Biden? That’s a lot of dead Americans.

I don’t think bernie’s been bought. He’s a coward who recoils from conflict, notwithstanding the manic harummphing he does on the stump. The little tentative thoughts of going nuclear on Biden are being countered by the media and Biden campaign. Bernie doesn’t have the stones to duke it out

From the lack of vigor of Bernie’s campaigning, I think his wife Jane wants a beach house badly.

Joe is an expert at Quid Pro Quo.

Liz is thinking about whether she wants to lead an empowered consumer protection agency.

I’m sure Mayor Pete would prefer a cabinet post over being Mayor.

Joe Biden would be glad to stand behind Amy as she takes up a cabinet post.

And who might be named Secretary of Defense?

You’re Very mistaken as the DNC has manipulated the race and is stomping Bernie.

They even have Pocahontas speaking ill of the Bernie Bros.

There was never a suggestion Pocahantus was going to endorse Biden. She is withholding an endorsement from loser Burnie because there is nothing to be gained in backing a loser.
