this foreign worker immigration bonanza STINKS!
I bet no more than 35 of these 35,000 American jobs need foreigners due to American workers not having the abilities

the other 34,965 permits should be denied immediately!

and how does this guy propose to keep out even more Islamic young men of fighting age?

Construction is still a decent paying job. I know because I have family in the business. The reason the “floodgates” were opened is that we closed off legal work permits, at the behest of the unions, and thus businesses needed to fill the gap with illegals (which the government ignored, because they knew the businesses needed the labor but didn’t want to crack down on domestic welfare recipients on the one hand or alienate their union funders on the other).

We can control legal immigration and we used to do so, issuing the necessary number of permits to people who came here, worked, and then went back. And then the unions got involved, not to improve anybody’s salary or working conditions, but simply to get more numbers and more power, and set up the dysfunctional situation we have now.

Get a grip on it with more legal work permits and the rest will follow.

I worked in the business when I was young .
We don't need to drag foreigners fir this
work .
The reason they do it are the wages are much lower and
they have limited rights to complain about working conditions .
This program was never meant to be a big end around normal wages and working conditions .That's the point now get a bunch of dependent people they can work into the ground and hear no complains since there people drag the entire extended family here and now on welfare.
The program was for hard to find jobs not getting away with slave wages racket which its evolved into after years of abuse .

American college grads can't get hired anymore

When you have a degree in "Social Justice" or "Welfare Fraud", companies looking for technical workers aren't going to hire you.

H2B are seasonal jobs. Pay is the same as for Americans. Americans don't want seasonal jobs, often in rural places that do not have reasonable rental accommodations. The family does not come with the worker, who goes home at the end of the season.

If laborer positions aren’t being filled by Americans, that means a market wage is not being offered. Allow the American labor market to work: as wages rise, there is more incentive to, for example, spend less time between jobs and postpone retirement. (No, those nearing retirement will not be doing construction labor, but labor is at least partially fungible: near-retirees taking jobs they can do frees up more able-bodied workers for the jobs only they can do.) If end customers won’t pay the price needed to supply the free-market wage, that’s the market saying that the labor purchaser needs to go out of business, freeing up resources for more efficient competitors or markets. Inefficient producers want cheap-labor socialism to protect them from the free market.

EBT/SNAP has made too many sitting on the porch. Too many porch monkeys.

Too many welfare rats.

Sorry friend, I was privy to a govt report spelling out the issue in 2017.

A STEM degree isn’t going to put blue collar willingness to do the job that networks require. There is a shortage, I personally saw the report and the strategy to close the gap back in 2017.

Sorry, the same bought off govt hacks pushing these corrupt Visas programs in the first place to please Silicon Valley, Big Ag , and Housing industry .

Why cant Americans get Jobs in India or China
or Australia or New Zealand in It ?
The US are the bought off dopes that allow its citizens to be treated as Second class citizens in their own country by corrupt politicians .
These other countries care more about there citizens than keeping labor cheap by flooding the market with cheap foreigners labor,

What part of a 6 or 7 month a year job in a rural area is being sought by Americans?

The report didn’t cover that. It was narrow is scope identifying the problem, and it was a DoD report on its implications. It is what it is.

I totally agree - we aren't discussing H1B positions here, which do tend to lower the wages paid and take jobs from American STEM workers.

H2B - extended summer employment in hospitality, seafood, boardwalk type enterprises is not driving wages down, nor is it infringing on Americans who want and are willing to do these jobs. 6-8 months per year and they go home for the remainder of the year and come back the next year.

From July 2019 article

Mar-a-Lago, the so-called “winter White House,” is looking to hire 80 workers from other countries this year. The resort, which received 78 H-2B visas in 2018-19 is looking to slightly increase the number for the coming year. A separate request by the Trump Organization seeks 14 visas for workers at the Trump National Golf Club in nearby Jupiter, Fla.
