Yay!!!!
Excellent. This is something that should be done anyway, and the Coronavirus only shows people why.
Great move
FINALLY!
Now electronics.
Imagine if we didn’t have Trump as President.
The Beast would be prostrating herself to the ChiComs begging for crumbs.
But it had to come to people dying in this country to get this? After so many of us pointed this out time and again for the last 20 years? And were told Oh Don’t Worry?
The Federal government, through onerous taxes and regulations CAUSED this “outsourcing” of manufactured goods and medicines, beginning 30 years ago?
The mantra, “Cheap Chinese stuff” is “good” for America took a nose dive, didn’t it?
This coronavirus black cloud may have a silver lining, mightn’t it?
“Made in America” might just be back in style!
Now all we have to do is get rid of the politicians an businessmen who sold us down the Chinese river!
It seems odd to buy our medicine from the same people who are developing bioweapons that they are planning to use against us.
Great! Great! Great!!
Why hand your enemy the weapon with which they can destroy you?
Economic warfare is alive and well
This is exactly what needs done. Next it to extract ourselves from China for all the other stuff in our supply chain. And why [WHY???] is Boeing building jets in China?
EXCELLENT! A huge silver lining

.@CBSNews confirms the White House is working on an Executive Order to decrease American dependence on foreign countries and to bring production back to the US by requiring federal agencies looking to purchase pharmaceuticals and medical supplies/equipment to Buy American”
Peter Navarro tells @CBSNews the Trump admin is looking to tighten domestic procurement through a 3-pronged strategy: Buy American, streamlining regulations, & incentivizing new technologies. The EO targets essential medicines, medical countermeasures, & their supply chains.

Great idea!
“Buy American White House Confirms Executive Order That Will End Medical Supply Chain Reliance On China”
Would be interesting to see exactly how it ends up working. Lots of US companies went to Vietnam to get away from China with the recent trade war...but then Vietnam used China for raw materials (fabrics, in this case). So how deep-down in the production supply lines will this EO go?
Anyway, still a BIG STEP in the right direction.
Mpore than one retailer told me Chinese here were buying masks sending them to China. Good friends and neighbors huh?
So...China is the largest supplier of bio weapons in the world. Go figure...

"Government's reliance"(?) What about the nation's reliance?
I don’t want to sound like an optimist. I’m just an old newspaperman who has learned to go where the facts lead him.
But if this coronavirus hysteria puts a dent in US reliance on the Chicoms for manufactured goods ... well, you can start singing “Look for the Silver Lining.”
