Some people who get the coronavirus could be contagious for a lot longer than the two-week quarantine period that many countries are using, a new study says.
Researchers looking at cases in China say patients could spread the virus for up to 37 days after they start showing symptoms, according to the study published in the British medical journal The Lancet.
On average, survivors still had the virus in their respiratory system for about 20 days and could presumably continue to spread the disease, researchers found.
The shortest observed duration of viral shedding among survivors was 8 days, whereas the longest was 37 days, the researchers said.

As near as I can tell the 14 day number was picked out of thin air. I do remember seeing reports the the actual number could be as much as 27 days. Cant find the links anymore.
This is going to do a real number on tourism and business travel.
They also said it wasn’t airborn...
Dumb ass NBA WUHAN mocker Rudy says he feels fine. So perhaps he wasnt shedding when Serge Ibaka was guarding him. His teamate Mitchell also has it.
Brazil guy says he feels fine so perhaps he didnt shed all over Maralago.
This is completely unacceptable
CDC admits they have only completed 70 coronavirus tests THIS WEEK - despite Trump promising MILLIONS more
I dont know who is at fault but heads should roll
The study reported that the most common period of symptoms showing up was five days; although it wasn't unusual for that to still be occurring at 11 days.
Ping me when it’s all clear to enjoy ‘rat bat soup again. Someone had a horse once. Her name was Frenzy. They beat her to death. This FRENZY can run for years...and years. Her mileage is unbelievable.

Jazz star Donovan Mitchell has tested positive for the coronavirus, league sources tell ESPN. Jazz players privately say that Rudy Gobert had been careless in the locker room touching other players and their belongings. Now a Jazz teammate has tested positive.
There’s a lot about this virus that we don’t know & probably won’t know for many months.
IIRC (with a BIG “if”), the 14 days was based on the behavior of other coronaviruses and deemed max asymptomatic incubation period not duration of infectiousnesss. I more clearly do recall reports of some (though few) incubation periodd being in the 20-something day range.
OMG, the all have colds! Lets continue to spread panic.
ROOT CAUSE: Government, L4 labs or rogue scientist?
He is spreading it to teammates.. Hope you tell your patients to be more careful and wise than what you just said right here.
I think that is likely the case with any virus. People vary greatly in the ability of their immune systems to fully vanquish it.
This news is weeks old
anyone following the live threads know this
btw, just a word of caution..display this cavalier disregard for the severity with your patients ...you could end up with a malpractice suit.
