Who in U.S. has passed away, and where, from coronavirus?

Obviously, the coronavirus story changes by the moment. But here is a snapshot in time of coronavirus deaths, as reported by CDC and in news reports.

The majority of U.S. deaths to date (31 of 40) have occurred among the elderly, sick in Washington State nursing homes or long term care facilities.

A majority of the Washington State deaths (27 of 31) occurred in King County.

A majority of the King County deaths in Washington State (22 of 31) occurred at the same elderly nursing facility in Kirkland. This large cluster in one facility is under investigation.

There have also been three deaths in Snohmish County, and one in Grant County (Washington State).

That chart is not accurate. A guy in his 40s died in Snohomish County, WA.

Thank you very much! I am feeling more “myself” since the two shots and prescription meds have started working their magic. The first week was a dry cough along with slight aches and pains, then all this week the aches and pain went away but I still had a dry cough but with congestion where the cough simply would not shake up the congestion. I tried to stick it out to heal myself but decided that two weeks of this cough was enough and perhaps it was time to see the doctor. So far so good!

If you’re under 40, it’s at least 2x-4x deadlier than normal flu. That’s a big deal.

“I haven’t seen any pictures of any of the people who have died, nor any stories from their families about their lives.”

Exactly. Where is the commemorative article in People mag with pictures and such? Where are the human interest stories? The dramatic news segments that are supposed to pull at your heart strings, like we see after tornados or hurricanes? The lack of such reporting is very odd.

Then again, maybe it shows how old folks just don’t matter much. It’s just killing the “expendables” now. If a young person dies of the China virus, the story will be everywhere.

That’s a good visual.

Here’s another comparison:

In the past month:

Coronavirus 32

Abortions: 130,200

(4400 abortions every day times 30 days)

There is someone I havent seen posting that is a fireman who visits ground zero nursing home in Washington.

That would be my wife and I. We have been to the Kirkland Life Care Center many times, but not in the last few months. She is a retired nurse and I am a retired fire officer.

Re: Do any FReepers have coronavirus?

I do not.

However, I live 10 miles south of the Nursing Home and the Hospital that is treating all the critical ill corona patients in north King County.

I-405 connects all the larger cities east of Seattle, so people - and infectious diseases - are very mobile in this neighborhood.

My age is a risk factor, but my health and fitness are excellent, so I am not especially worried.

As far as I know, no healthy adults have died in northern Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.

Several countries have also mentioned that children appear to have exceptional resistance to corona.

Not one school age child or teenager has been infected in King County. University of Washington has closed, too, and no students have been infected there, either.

My cousin [not in King County] is married to a Marine Corps colonel.

Both of them were placed in an isolation unit last week when they came down with flu symptoms. The colonel had been in Japan one week earlier. Their tests came back as H1N1 flu, and they were released.

Their release struck me as darkly comical since H1N1 has killed thousands and thousands of Americans of all ages and health, but COVID only kills the very elderly and the infirm in medically advanced countries.

Protecting the elderly and the infirm from infection in the USA does not seem like a hugely expensive or complex problem - and it would slash our death rate almost to zero.

Trying to protect everybody is impossible - and it is completely destroying our regional economy.

I do not know anyone personally. I was listening to the radio, and the guy speaking pretty much described the symptoms I had experienced. We live about five miles from the Life Care Center that is ground zero for deaths of elderly folks. Have never visited there, so do not believe what I had was related.

It was over so fast I gave no thought at the time that it might be coronavirus. So I just carried on.

Here in Washington state our first death - we are WuWa - was 50. That person was on chemotherapy, went to South Korea, returned here to WuWa and died.

I have been suspicious that he might have visited someone at the Life Care Center in Kirkland where the majority of the US death rates occurred.

The pandemic will be over in less than two weeks, at least as far as the media is concerned.

Put a DUmocrat in charge and the pandemic magically disappears!
