Nunes says 'media and the Left' throwing the public into 'panic' over coronavirus
Washington Examiner ^ | March 15, 2020 11:23 AM | Emma Colton

California Rep. Devin Nunes said the media and liberals are “putting the country into a panic” by hyping the coronavirus outbreak.

“What the media and the Left are doing here is they’re putting the country into a panic, and look, it’s for no reason,” the Republican congressman told Fox News host Jesse Watters on his Saturday evening program. “I’m not saying that this isn’t a serious health concern. We need to take it serious.”

Nunes said the elderly, especially those with preexisting health conditions, need to take extra precautions with the outbreak, but the “main issue is for us in the United States is just to remain calm.”

“A lot of people are panicking,” Nunes said. “One guy sneezed. Or someone has a runny nose.”

Nunes referred to his experience contracting H1N1, which killed over 12,000 U.S. citizens from 2009-2010, to make his case for why people should remain calm now and heed instructions from health experts.

“So as someone who did come down with H1N1 — I had it for about two weeks. It was a pretty bad flu. I know what it was like back again then. But I also remember that nobody was panicking. I did not have to self-quarantine. They told me to stay away from people. They told me to continue to keep my temperature down," Nunes said.

Once upon a time, “Self-quarantine” used to mean ,”keep your sick, sorry ass self at home until you get well.

What exactly is your definition of a "hoarder" so I can make sure I shoot the right people?

If you have more than a week's worth of toilet paper I'd like to shoot you, if you don't mind.

Yeah and my governor Dewine is doing more damage to Ohio. More politicians with no business experience.

This is insanity pure and simple. Without advanced testing this illness cannot be distinguished from the flu for sure even by medical professionals. In Washington where we live it is speculated that it has been running its course for the last two months with the vast majority of people assuming that they had the flu.

He’s absolutely right.

In another 3 weeks, it’ll have been forgotten because of the NEXT “crisis.

Folks, this same trick never ends. Why do we fall for it?

A month ago, these same folks were warning us of the coming mother of all snowstorms... we got an inch and a half, which melted in two days...
But they got people out to the stores to buy up supplies, panic and go home to stay glued to their tv news...

We have sickness around us every day of our lives. We all need proper hygiene and common courtesy toward others. That’s basic life, not some new wisdom.

Btw... I see that Tom Hanks and wife are still well enough to be on Facebook and Twitter and whatever... Think about that for a minute..

I suspect we had it here in the midwest since at least January. My wife and I and all the people I work with had a virus that, months later, we are all still coughing trying to clear our lungs out.

This was not a normal flu.

I don’t think it will forgotten with a collapsed economy and thousands of small businesses going under.

He’d better be careful.

Pointing that out got Trish Regan fired.

.

Class action civil lawsuits against MSM companies and individuals, by companies and investors, for huge financial losses suffered because MSM companies and individuals incited panic. Same as shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater.

Crowd fund the lawyers to boost the process. Hit them hard and continuously. Make them pay.

“Pointing that out got Trish Regan fired.”

If his constituents come down with it and decide to fire him, that’s their right.

Panic we do not need. The only purpose to incite anxiety and uncertainty into the present situation is to somehow discredit President Donald Trump and disrupt his efforts to do the greater and more responsible program to contain and eventually overcome the menace presented by this new and largely still not fully understood virus. which has proved to be much more virulent and devastating than previous iterations of similar pathogens.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a rapidly spreading, potentially fatal infectious viral disease. When it first appeared some 17 years ago, the specific pathogen involved seemed to have limited capability to be contagious, requiring very close physical contact. This newest version, COVID-19, is similar, but far more contagious, and therefore presenting a vastly greater danger to humans.

We already have the basics we need to develop an effective vaccine, and apparently those who have had this particular virus and recovered, now have the necessary antigens in their system to prevent later reinfection. It is now a matter of first, finding all those who are currently affected, and secondly, assuring the public, at least a vast majority of them, have either a natural immunity, or are able to acquire it through both recovery from the disease, and through vaccination against this particular pathogen.

Polio was once a dread disease, striking capriciously and with sometimes widely divergent outcomes. Those days are now long gone, and the few remaining living victims of the disease still have the antibodies circulating in their blood.
