Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) is floating a plan to get cash into the hands of affected workers and their families due to national shutdowns of businesses in nearly every industry from the coronavirus outbreak.
In a series of posts online and in a Fox News Channel interview, Cotton said American workers who are being forced to stay home from their jobs due to shutdowns in the midst of the coronavirus crisis need immediate relief in the form of cash payments.
The monetary policy, known as Universal Basic Income (UBI), has made its way into the national spotlight over the last year thanks to businessman Andrew Yang. The policy could mean that American citizens affected by the coronavirus shutdowns would get $1,000 a month in cash.
Cotton suggested using existing social welfare agencies to put cash in the hands of affected families.
We dont want to see layoffs, we want to see people who are at home, if they have any reason to be at home, supported immediately, Cotton said.

No way, no how - itll NEVER go away and its one step away from payments to every grievance group out there.
Never let a crisis go to waste??????
Is that what is really going on here??????
When youve lost Tom Cotton ...
I feel that I’ve been affected by the virus. Change my mind. And in the meantime — where is my check?
Damn et tu Cotton?
Based on what we’re seeing, they’d just blow it on toilet paper.
For the record, gubmint kept extending the deadline for northeast people filing for Superstorm Sandy (the 2012 Atlantic hurricane) “relief” still.
Also, if the gubmint is aching to do something to help, how about tax reductions until things stabilize? Cutting federal taxes by half would really help my Family.
Too many taxes
Too many laws
Too many handouts
Too many regulations
Too much government already.
Is he related to Rosy Cotton?
Shoulda picked our own cotton,,,,,oh wait,,
I think a box with a basic paper goods and staples would be better served than cash.
Facepalm....If they think this is the right approach then why is everyone attacking Bernie?
Im in NO way in support of govt handouts or bail outs.
However, Id rather see any assistance go to taxpaying WORKERS and biz owners, before going to any more welfare cases. They already receive plenty. Maybe take some from them (hint: illeagals) and give to those truly out of work, due to this CV19.
It should be easily provable, whether youve been receiving a FICA withheld paycheck, or not.
Especially if this thing is likely a ChiCom bio weapon, as Sen Cotton has said.
Who would have thought that Socialism would arrive in the form of a virus. The truth justifies the ends.
The “Socialist Virus” has appropriately come from CHINA.
When is he going to propose the necessary tax hike to fund his charitable giving on behalf of the taxpayers?
A newfound symptom of the virus is that it cause fake conservatives to reveal their socialism.
Like other senators, he knows what is coming:

I understand these extraordinary measures will impose many hardships, but if we take them now, we can shorten the risk to Americans health and the economic hardships.

Two weeks ago, Italians were merrily sipping wine and coffee at bars and restaurants. Today, elderly Italians are denied care at hospitals and instead administered last rites because their health-care system is collapsing.

The time has come for extraordinary measures to combat the Chinese coronavirus. What seems extreme today will seem obvious tomorrow.
I’m wondering if there isn’t something going on under the surface. Perhaps Nancy & her goons are refusing a payroll tax holiday and insisting on all kinds of giveaways it will be hard to turn off after the outbreak.
Perhaps our guys are signaling this is the best they can do to get relief to the people and stop Nan from going full socialist...
