The Coronavirus Hoax
Ron Paul Institute ^ | Mar 16 2020 | Dr Ron Paul

Posted on 03/16/2020 10:59:25 PM PDT by rintintin

Governments love crises because when the people are fearful they are more willing to give up freedoms for promises that the government will take care of them. After 9/11, for example, Americans accepted the near-total destruction of their civil liberties in the PATRIOT Act’s hollow promises of security.

It is ironic to see the same Democrats who tried to impeach President Trump last month for abuse of power demanding that the Administration grab more power and authority in the name of fighting a virus that thus far has killed less than 100 Americans.

Declaring a pandemic emergency on Friday, President Trump now claims the power to quarantine individuals suspected of being infected by the virus and, as Politico writes, “stop and seize any plane, train or automobile to stymie the spread of contagious disease.” He can even call out the military to cordon off a US city or state.

State and local authoritarians love panic as well. The mayor of Champaign, Illinois, signed an executive order declaring the power to ban the sale of guns and alcohol and cut off gas, water, or electricity to any citizen. The governor of Ohio just essentially closed his entire state.

The chief fearmonger of the Trump Administration is without a doubt Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. Fauci is all over the media, serving up outright falsehoods to stir up even more panic. He testified to Congress that the death rate for the coronavirus is ten times that of the seasonal flu, a claim without any scientific basis.

“I agree that Trump is boxed in by the tide of emotion that’s been whipped up right now.”

You’re being kind. He’s a f—ing hostage. I think one of the worst thing about this is seeing him cowed by people who hate him, and he can’t escape.

Pray for his safety. Pray for strength. Pray for his family.

I know what you mean but keep in mind how he reacts to people who manipulate and bully him. The left thinks he lashes out mindlessly. I think he does anything but that.

When he finds the right time and way to get on top of this the schadenfreude will be something to behold.

You’re right. I had forgotten about that. He’s patient when it comes to revenge — “a dish best served cold”, as they say. It will be bee-YOU-ti-ful!

As of 3/16/2020, 11PM, there were 182,405 cases with 7,154 deaths. 7154 / 182,405 = 0.039, or 3.9%

No. The 182,405 cases are those that were tested. It is very likely that those are a small minority of cases and likely the most serious ones because for many people, apparently, the symptoms are negligible.

“There is definitely something wrong with the whole corona virus story.
Been thinking that for days now.”

Totally agree. If people don’t think this is completely political, they’re deluding themselves. I don’t like that Trump and Pence are buying into the panic but I guess they don’t have much of a choice.

I don’t think they are “buying into it” I think they’re doing what they have to given the circumstances. Things will change and Trump will dominate the narrative when they do. As he has proven he is capable of before.

Lies...

Damned Lies...

And Statistics...

In my view you may think you see a trend but all of the information needed to come to a conclusion is not there

Sounds more like wishful thinking or raw extrapolation based on the few sources of real information

In short unlike the Spanish Flu which had a high virulence nature and killed in day people recover from this a lot and it may actually be in the “Flu” column or non reported stack

This is NOT in the Spanish Flu genre at all and flailing opposing opinions by waving you experience is to me nothing more than an opinion that appears to have a pre-set objective in mind

FUD

Fear

Uncertainty

Doubt

This is no where near the same profile as that Flu, no matter what you say

JMHO

75 fatalities/8320 cases = 0.9% fatality rate, about 8x regular flu...in line with everything I read & hear on TV from the experts.

That is, 0.9% and dropping. And even South Korea has only tested a small portion of its population. They have no idea how many total people have had the WuFlu and showed little or no symptoms.

He’s a f—ing hostage.

I’ve been thinking that too. The media made a big deal about why he needed to listen to Fauci and let Fauci speak. Why has the media annointed Fauci? And Fauci takes control at these press conferences. He doesn’t bring calm, he brings fear.

And Fauci is nearly 80. Why isn’t he sheltering in place if this virus threatens to kill all the old people?

And why doesn’t the media ever ask FAUCI if he’s been tested?

All good “why” questions. It’s obvious that Fauci isn’t buying in to his own lies.

Also, I get pissed when the MSM refer to Fauci as being in charge of ... well ... everything. They never mention Pence or Trump. One of the Fox people — I think it was Judge Jeanine but am not positive — referred to Fauci as the voice of reason (or truth).

Enough already!!

Look at how EASY is has become to CONTROL EVERYONE!! SCARY AS HELL!!

Perhaps the scariest thing about this is how easy it is to panic the young. From what I've seen, they are among the most eager early-adopters of the government restrictions and among the most militant in attacking those who question them.

"Do not stake your hopes on the notion that this is really circulating among everyone and we are only hearing about the most serious cases. That kind of belief, and the failure to take precautions stemming from it, is how this thing can get seriously out of hand. I hope you are familiar with basic infection control measures and are practicing them. "

I have plenty of experience teaching me that hope is not a plan.

Regarding "case fatality rates can only be calculated after all known cases have been resolved," I would argue that even after all known cases are resolved we still don't know the true fatality rate because 1) it is only for known cases, and 2) there are often false positives.

At the macro level I'd like to point out that the measures we take nationally must balance the effectiveness against the threat against the negative impact on the economy. That is why I question statements of "fact" that might easily be misinterpreted by folks with a propensity to panic.

Finally, thank you kindly for your concern FRiend, I am taking precautions. Among them, my Mom taught me how to wash my hands 65 years ago. I apologize if I made you repeat your posts.

“They can’t know the fatality rate without testing EVERYONE.
....There is hard evidence that there are carriers who present minor or no symptoms who will never be tested. All of these people would go into the denominator of the fatality rate.

No one should quote such fatality statistics as “facts.” The fact is, we simply don’t know what the fatality rate is, but it is definitely lower than what we can measure at the moment.”

So your default is zero or wait until half the population is infected?

Remember both the infection rate and death rate for COV19 are being under-reported.

“That’s why I keep saying watch the number of deaths. There can still be an error in “cause of death” but about the death itself there is no argument.”

I respectfully disagree. The dead are not tested for COV19. I know of several very recent cases where the person died having COV19 symptoms.

If they had a CT before they died they had a diagnostic test. Probably the best one.

If someone is dying from the secondary infections, there is not an urgent need to do a CT, especially if the test kits are in short supply.

This would be an interesting survey for some one to do.

Consider this, if someone gave you investment information with a guess that was as loose as those figures above for influenza cases and deaths would you feel confident in that investment?

Thanks.. that's a very good analogy which i will use going forward.

I’m guessing that once testing goes mainstream, the occurrences will increase a lot but the deaths, not so much, which will bring that percentage down.
