They called it the Spanish flu. Racist bastards. That was racist, because it originated in Kansas. It was called the Spanish Flu because Spain got hit especially hard in the 1918 epidemic.

Spain was about the only country not at war so they were the only country publishing the truth. Germany, France, England, (the US?) were all lying in the interest of National Security.
