Preppers, once mocked, say they were ready for coronavirus crisis

Food is in short supply here. You have to hit 3-4 stores to get what you need. If you don’t make it before noon there’s no meat, bread, etc. Canned goods and staples have all been gone for over a week. As soon as they come in the hoards snatch them up. Pickings are slim. That’s why everyone is panicking. Of course because of the way I shop our freezer and pantry is loaded too.

I never thought the day would come that I would estimate the amount of TP that I use.

Guy just threw out the "fact" that "the average" American uses a roll of toilet paper a day (two people/two rolls, etc.) and most people don't have a sufficient supply on hand.

That average seems a little high to me.

My wife has a lot (too many) friends that are not tuned in to what is happening in the world, and whom she gives out too much of our personal information (they are freaking helpless). I finally had to put my foot down and tell her to not share our preparations, as they will be the first to appear on our doorstep in a time of crisis with big, teary eyes and hands out. I’ve been showing her a few documentaries to back up the fact that those with will be the ones that those without will come to (perhaps violently) in these times. Also told her I would feel bad having to defend myself from her “friends”, but would if it came down to it...

Too bad the 'cat' is out of the bag. Should it come to it...hand them a 2 cup bag of rice and a couple of nip bottles of vodka. Then tell them, don't come back unless you are carrying supplies or a weapon.

But I doubt it will get that bad anytime soon.

Haven’t been on FR much since I moved to Indiana. Still read threads now and then, but the thing that made me proudest during the last few weeks was a strategy council a couple weeks back with my sons and a few other family members planning for the what we were sure would be coming lock downs, Right before we got started my youngest son spoke out and said to me: “Well Dad looks like you weren’t so crazy after all.” Every one
chuckled but I got nods of approve from everyone at the table. Made this old man’s day and a life memory for sure.
