Council on Foreign Relations President Gets Key Detail Wrong in Tweet Admonishing U.S. Over Wuhan Coronavirus Response
Townhall.com ^ | March 19, 2020 | Matt Vespa

Richard Haas is a longtime diplomat and president of the Council on Foreign Relations. He decided to weigh in on who is to blame for the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic and decided to lay a large chunk on the blame on us. Yeah, apparently, he got some of the timeframe messed up. Our friends at Twitchy found this story.

“Yes, the coronavirus crisis had its origins in China-both its wet market & its initial coverup-but China cannot be blamed for our own months of denial, the lack of protective gear, tests & ventilators, & the failure still to require social distancing throughout the entire US,” Haas tweeted.

Yes, the #coronavirus crisis had its origins in China-both its wet market & its initial coverup-but China cannot be blamed for our own months of denial, the lack of protective gear, tests & ventilators, & the failure still to require social distancing throughout the entire US.— Richard N. Haass (@RichardHaass) March 19, 2020

1st cases in China 11/2019

China said no human to human spread 1/14/20

WHO declares a health emergency 1/30/20

Trump shuts down travel from China 1/31/20

Shut up. Thanks. https://t.co/DtlQay3f1E— Stacey - Cruising the #ChinaVirus Crisis (@ScotsFyre) March 19, 2020

Months of denial?

In beginning of Jan (only about 75 days ago!) China was still denying this had person to person transmission.

Much of the world's inability to get ready for this...is China's fault.— Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) March 19, 2020

The longtime diplomat was then fact-checked, with those noting that in January, China was still denying there was human-to-human transmission. Also, they destroyed samples that exposed the virus in December, strong-armed doctors who were trying to do the right thing, kept medical crews in the dark, and prevented doctors from reporting on cases of Wuhan coronavirus they encountered. They allowed Chinese New Year to be celebrated, exposing legions to the disease and allowed 5 million to leave Wuhan. This is all China’s fault. Their incompetence unleashed this mayhem upon the world. And we should be unapologetic in that regard. For now, the liberal news media is peddling Chinese communist propaganda because…'orange man bad.’

Sorry, Mr. Haas, the fault rests with China and China alone.

Didn’t we try to send our CDC there to help and get denied?

Didn’t we send China our medical supplies which we now need desperately?

Team Colin Powell begins again its attack against the
ELECTED PRESIDENT.

Did Powell know about the Wuhan virus early?

There’s a video from a bit back in Italy, in order to ‘protest’ perceived racism against Chinese, Chinese men wearing breathing masks stood on the streets encouraging Italians to virtue signal by giving them hugs. So women were hugging Chinese who were sick with the beer bug, virtue signaling.

Basically, the Chinese weaponized virtue signaling to increase infections in Italy.

I find this truly astonishing and disgusting.

The media meanwhile, appear to be defending the Chinese with virtue signaling of their own.

Identity politics needs to end.

I predicted that the “progressives” would lay the blame for delay on Trump !
This should not stand.

When was the Council of Foreign Relations ever right about anything. I became a member when just beginning my career. After just a few events I quit. I soon realized they were just a bunch of bloviating nincompoops who thought very highly of themselves.

I have a sense the Chinese did this deliberately, an act of war, and hence the reason the govt is saying we are on the eve of a circumstance like WWII. No reason for all this for a simple virus.

Richard Ass really exposed himself as an ignorant A-hole here.

Just one more reason why I consider any affiliation with the Council on Foreign Relations to be a disqualifying factor for any person seeking any degree of public trust. These are disloyal globalist pricks from top to bottom.

Hmm. Who knows what the president might have been able to accomplish without years of Democrat investigations, judges unilaterally stripping powers Constitutionally assigned to the Executive Branch, and every other left wing plot aimed at hobbling him and his administration?

Richard Haass

He has been president of the Council on Foreign Relations since July 2003, prior to which he was Director of Policy Planning for the United States Department of State and a close advisor to Secretary of State Colin Powell.

The Senate approved Haass as a candidate for the position of ambassador and he has been U.S. Coordinator for the Future of Afghanistan. He succeeded George J. Mitchell as the United States Special Envoy for Northern Ireland to help the peace process in Northern Ireland, for which he received the State Department's Distinguished Service Award.

At the end of 2003, Mitchell Reiss succeeded him as special envoy. In late 2013, Haass returned to Northern Ireland to chair inter-party talks aimed at addressing some of the unresolved issues from the peace process such as parades, flags and "the past".

Oh and he is a Republican (Make that a RINO)

When this is over it’s time to go medieval on China. They screwed up big time and they have to pay one way or another.
