The former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency removed his earpiece and stormed off a live MSNBC segment on Thursday, saying he didn’t “have time to listen to bulls–t.”
“The myth of a single person in charge taking control and running this is a myth,” Craig Fugate, who served as the head of FEMA under President Barack Obama, said during a panel discussion centered around dealing with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“This is going to be dealt with on the front lines and local and state levels, and each state is going to be addressing this unique to their systems,” he told MSNBC host Katy Tur and fellow guest Andy Slavitt.
Fugate said the best way for the federal government to support state governors is to “get out of their way.”
“As we’re running out of stuff, I’m asking the question, why are we not looking at idle capabilities now and governors just go contract for that resource? Why wait for the federal government to do it?” he said.
Slavitt, the former acting administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under Obama, disagreed.
“What your other guest is suggesting here is not helpful,” he said. “We need a great partnership between the federal and state government.”
Fugate responded by taking off his earpiece and leaving the interview.
“I don’t have time to listen to bullshit, people,” he muttered before storming off.
Later in the day, Fugate addressed the incident on Twitter.
“At the point I’m not helping, time to step back. Never was good at the talking head thing anyway. This is too critical of a time to let emotions get in the way. My apologies to you and your audience,” he tweeted.

Pretty much invalidates anything that comes out of his mouth, which seems to be profanity like most Leftists, most of the time.
As far as the bureaucracy goes, this is a little like Katrina. States should deal with state problems. Cities should deal with city problems. The Federal government should say “Let me know if you want help”.
I’m not a big Bush fan, but I think George W. Bush handled Katrina appropriately. The media was wrong to attack him the way they did.
Fugate in this interview seems to taking that same basic approach — the role of the Federal government is to say “Let me know if you need help”.
I think Trump is handling this well. I think expectations that he ought to put on his Dictator Hat and storm in and micromanage and solve all the problems in the cities and the states are wrong. The media would love to see him try, so they can pillory him.
Reminds me of a great segment from Don Imus' radio show some years ago. Chris Matthews was his guest, and Matthews went on a brief rant with several four-letter words about some Republican in Washington (it may have been George W. Bush).
It ended with something like this:
IMUS: "Hey, stop that! You can't use profanity on the air!"
MATTHEWS: "I'm sorry, Don. I'm used to being on cable TV, and I sometimes use profanity on my show."
IMUS: "Yeah, but this show actually has an audience!"
LMAO!!!
Yup. Heard him in the telecon yesterday say: “If you need anything JB, just call me.” Had to be pritzker of Illinois. Pretty sure they aren’t on the same page on just about anything but there was PDJT telling him to call if need be. If needed, step up, if not, step aside.
And, Blanco on video admitted she should have asked for Federal help sooner.

As the rules were designed and as it should be done. Why else have local/state/fed laws, bureaucracy, gov, taxes ?
