As far as the bureaucracy goes, this is a little like Katrina. States should deal with state problems. Cities should deal with city problems. The Federal government should say “Let me know if you want help”.
I’m not a big Bush fan, but I think George W. Bush handled Katrina appropriately. The media was wrong to attack him the way they did.
Fugate in this interview seems to taking that same basic approach — the role of the Federal government is to say “Let me know if you need help”.
I think Trump is handling this well. I think expectations that he ought to put on his Dictator Hat and storm in and micromanage and solve all the problems in the cities and the states are wrong. The media would love to see him try, so they can pillory him.
Yup. Heard him in the telecon yesterday say: “If you need anything JB, just call me.” Had to be pritzker of Illinois. Pretty sure they aren’t on the same page on just about anything but there was PDJT telling him to call if need be. If needed, step up, if not, step aside.
And, Blanco on video admitted she should have asked for Federal help sooner.
