“NO state has “declared Martial Law”

You don’t know what martial law is, do you?

Today I was going through the junk mail and found a bunch of Gloom and Doomberg mailers, including one that looked like just some random generic junk.

Oh yes I do; however, it is obvious that YOU don't!

Martial Law involves our military. W@hich state has an army, a navy, and Marines?

“Martial Law involves our military.”

Actually, it doesn’t. See, I knew you didn’t know what martial law is. Martial law doesn’t have to include the US military, it can include the army of the governor including law enforcement personnel. The primary definition of martial law is that the there is a sole authority with total discretion such as being exercised by the governors to choose which businesses may must close or stay open, where people can work, what natural resources can be used by the people, etc.

Actually you are wrong! How is a governor going to enforce all of the new restrictions, etc.? Police forces aren't as well armed, many aren't all that big, and some might even rebel.

I'll save you the problem of bringing up the National Guard. They come under the direction of the CIC... the president.

And just WHAT, without looking it up, is the definition of the word "MARTIAL"; DO YOU EVEN KNOW?

I'll save you the trouble...it is a word that refers to the military, military law, war, and since I took 4 years of Latin, I also know that it comes from the Ancient Roman god of war...Mars.

Martial law?

In any event, the President doesn’t have the luxury of sticking his head in the sand and ignoring reality like you do, thread after thread. He has a job to do. He has to govern and deal with what is actually happening, not what he wants to pretend is or is not happening. I wish this wasn’t happening either...but wishing away reality doesn’t make reality go away.

You are wrong on one point - Governors are the commanders-in-chief of their state’s National Guard. The President can take control of them by declaring the state is in rebellion. If you recall, during the Katrina debacle President Bush was repeatedly attacked for not mobilizing the National Guard fast enough - a false attack by the media as that was the governor’s job. National Guard troops from other states cannot enter another state without the permission of that state’s governor (something else the LA governor dragged her feet on granting to the frustration of the other governors that wanted to help).

I just keep thinking how many ventilators, masks, and hand sanitizer that money could have bought...

Also wonder how much he was paying attention to the status of the outbreak during his campaign...

I think Bloomberg never wanted to be president.

He just thought his attacks would tip the scales against Trump for whatever dimocrat that prevailed, himself or whoever.

Yet another failure due to underestimating Trump. (IMO).
