My sister lived in Leilani estates, here house two doors down from Fissure 8 where the mass of lava wiped out 1,000 homes.
The govt knew the lava was heading there, and refused to tell the residents because they didn’t want them to panic.
In some miracle, not one person died. But the govt would have been just fine otherwise.
I’m not making this shit up either. She lived on Luana Street.
I as many others suspect it is a bio-weapon. Leaked either by accident or intentionally. It has a long contagion time with no symptoms, its very contagious and it overwhelms the target's country health care system and wrecks their economy. Imagine if this happened during a shooting war. It would be a perfect bio-weapon. But that's just speculation and its probably just a coincidence.

Yea, at this point, we can either have a healthcare system, or we can have something resembling a ‘normal’ economy. But we cannot have both - one will be destroyed.
So far, every country that has reached this point has chosen to save their healthcare system - but the FluBros would rather have the economy (stock market losses, maybe?).
Oh well, that’s where we are now.

I understand not wanting to overwhelm the hospitals, but some are overwhelmed during he regular flu season anyway.
