The Lagos State government on Friday disclosed that following the announcement by President Donald Trump on Thursday that chloroquine can cure coronavirus, hospitals in the state has received patients suffering from chloroquine poisoning.
This was just as the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) told Nigerians to desist from self-medication over the coronavirus as the World Health Organisation (WHO) has not approved chloroquine for the management of coronavirus.

If you take Hydroxychloroquine in the recommended dosage it is a safe drug.

When did that stop?
I read an article a couple of days ago which said the price for Chloroquine meant for use as an aquarium water treatment has skyrocketed as sales spiked off the charts.
I’m not an aquarium guy so I don’t know if the dosage of that stuff is on par with a dose to prevent malaria.
But, I do know that Chloroquine is said to be very harsh. The Hydrochloroquine is said to be far better tolerated and is just as effective against malaria.

Like many things in that part of the world and here it is hard to know what is true and what is fake.
Take a look at the twitter account that the article is based on, and which incidentally is rapidly being repeated by the US left wing media.
Then take a look at some of the other profiles of the person who made the statement.
This one identifies her as a 2019 college graduate.
This one identifies her as someone much older.
Seems like it might be a less than totally reliable source - one tweet from what appears to be a person with multiple inconsistent online profiles.
My cousin did a lot of business in Nigeria. I’ll be forwarding this to him. I’m sure he’ll not be surprised. It sounds just like how he describes Nigeria/Lagos. He has a phrase: WAWA. West Africa Wins Again.
Bacon by itself is worthless. I recommend a cocktail of the three B's to cure just about anything: Bacon, Bread, and Beer (and/or Bourbon).

Hydroxychloroquine is a different drug, which is better tolerated. It may be less effective than chloroquine against COVID-19, or more effective.
Why don't we find out, instead of lurching into "blame Trump" mode.
