President Trump on Sunday said the National Guard had been activated in New York, California and Washington and that the federal government would provide additional resources to help those states combat the coronavirus.
Were dealing also with other states. These states have been hit the hardest, Trump said at a news briefing at the White House.
Trump said the federal government would fund 100 percent of the National Guard units carrying out approved missions in those states. The order will provide additional manpower and resources to the three states grappling with some of the worst coronavirus outbreaks in the U.S.
Trump said he had spoken with the Democratic governors of all three states on Sunday. He previously criticized Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) as a snake, but has largely offered praise for Govs. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) and Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) for their handling of the virus.
The president laid out various additional medical supplies would be shipped out to those states in the coming days and said troops would help construct additional medical facilities at specified sites in each state.
New York will receive four federal medical stations with 1,000 hospital beds; California will receive eight medical stations with 2,000 beds; and Washington will receive several stations and 1,000 beds.

Easy to build buildings, hard to equip and staff them to be medical centers.
Just give them 28 unencumbered acres, and they can built a 1000 bed Naval Fleet hospital in under 12 hours, complete with MANY ICU wards, and operating rooms. It was good enough for Desert Shield and Desert Storm, so why not put them into use now? (THey are even air conditioned!!) AND do not take nearly as long to get underway as the USNS hospital ships will AND they can be built and staffed by already trained Navy and Marine reserve units throughout the US!
It would be quicker to just rent all the empty hotels. That is what China did.
Why not use existing buildings like hotels? Much cheaper to lease them then building even a tent facility and maintaining it.
You have to disinfect the hotels afterwards. You can just burn the tents.
Put the empty college campuses to use.
1-800-CALL-SAM?
Just watched today’s press conference and loved how President Trump handled the Democrats in front of the cameras. Being disarming and conciliatory. This lets the American people see who is the one causing the political discord and you know there will be some.
Who said anything about the *virus* being why you’d have to disinfect the hotel?
Think body fluids. There’s a reason why hotel interior materials are not used in even upscale hospitals - because the materials are not easily cleaned and sanitized.
use central park
All democrat run states.
What about Louisiana?
I hope Trump is not actually ordering the NG to do anything.
That would imply nationalization.
Sure, fund it. But order nothing.
HUGE ROGER to that outstanding suggestion !
yes, there are only so many respiratory therapists and when spring comes and the virus is gone by Mothers’ Day, what will we do with all these buildings.
Because the military has no experience in building and supplying field hospitals.
You may want to rethink your assumptions.
Note nothing for that klock klucker of a do nothing IL. Gov. whom is incapable of Governing. His strength is finger pointing with one hand and GIMME with the other. Despicable human being if that is what he is.
One long term reaction to this crisis might be to establish a medical equivalent of the National Guard/Reserves to provide large numbers of medical personnel ready to step in during times of emergency such as now. Retired doctors, nurses, x ray techs, etc. Give remedial training for low level aids to take temperatures, etc. Habe them train one weekend a month and two weeks during the summer, just like the NG.
