So does that mean that all these shelter in place orders and other restrictions will end after 15 days?
After all, these restrictions have all been issued by states and localities, not the federal government. Could states continue to order us to stay at home?
And keep in mind that there are literally thousands of school districts across the country, who would have to make individual decisions one by one, as to when or whether to reopen during the remainder of the school year.
Time will tell. As many have said, we’re in uncharted territory with this entire situation.
No I think the state and local orders stay put. Federalism.
I cannot believe the undercutting of evictions in state of Texas. TX Supreme Court wrote an order stopping all evictions unless tenant can be deemed “dangerous”. They consulted with liberal groups & Tx Apt. Association but what about individual landowners???
We had patiently tolerated a tenant that was consistently late and violated his lease many times. We patiently waited giving correction notices, letters , etc & he agreed to move out late this month.
Then the State of Texas makes it announcement which I’m sure is spread on local news. This hostile and testy tenant may very well back out of our agreement to move out. We reside out of town so we have to drive 3 hours to oversee our house. I am so pissed! Our lease has us paying all utilities as well.
How long can those orders stay in force if there is no bailout package? They will probably be rescinded the next day after he declares there is no bailout.
They would have a hard time standing against the Federal government, I think. Typically, Federal government supersedes state, and in this case (though I cannot believe I’m saying it), I would be rooting for the Feds over the state because where I am we are about to be shut down for 30 days minimum come Tuesday. In addition to the week to 10 days we’ve already pretty much been shut down. With a working drug on the horizon and vaccines in the works, it’s too much. We need to get back to normalcy.
As best I understand the governors could only make these emergency proclamations because there was a national emergency declared.
Once its rescinded thats it.
At least thats how its been explained to me.
Probably over 60 continue working from home / social distancing. others crank back up.
