One clear message that [Sheriff] Villanueva is sending, is on gun stores.
We will be closing them, they are not an essential function, Villanueva said. Im a supporter of the 2nd amendment, Im a gun owner myself, but now you have the mixture of people that are not formerly gun owners and you have a lot more people at home and anytime you introduce a firearm in a home, from what I understand from CDC studies, it increases fourfold the chance that someone is gonna get shot.

What a hypocrite, says he supports the second amendment yet by his actions he only supports him for people (mostly the police) who already have guns. Everybody else does not get the same rights. Well keeping the population disarmed, the sheriff is releasing 1700 prisoners from the local jails. The only people who will be safe are the police, not law abiding citizens.

When the LA gangs go wild, I think you’ll suddenly find them essential.

... you introduce a firearm in a home, from what I understand from CDC studies ...
This is what the CDC was working on during four previous presidencies.

So many disturbing things in just one statement.

This is a public policy statement - it's in no way within the responsibility of a county sheriff. His job is to enforce the law, not to make law based on his personal conclusions and CDC studies.

You, also.

Dang, I was just getting ready to head to a gun shop in LA too. NOT! Oddly seems like a lot of ‘non-conservative’ types all of a sudden consider the 2nd amendment might not be a bad thing. If folks are just now getting a gun, too late. Then again, maybe replacements for boating accidents. Stay safe in the south part of town and we’ll keep an eye open on the north side.

damned commies should not be sheriffs!
and besides, a firearm is DESIGNED to make sure someone is shot (like, say, the burglars that this sheriff simply cannot prevent breaking into your home...even if he tried...as so MANY sheriffs have openly stated...when recommending everyone get armed up to be able to protect themselves
