The art of war without war.

And we are the victims.

Tsun Tsu “ The Art of War”

3. Attack by Stratagem
1

Sun Tzu said: In the practical art of war, the best thing of all is to take the enemy’s country whole and intact; to shatter and destroy it is not so good. So, too, it is better to recapture an army entire than to destroy it, to capture a regiment, a detachment or a company entire than to destroy them.

2

Hence to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting. #

Here again, no modern strategist but will approve the words of the old Chinese general. Moltke’s greatest triumph, the capitulation of the huge French army at Sedan, was won practically without bloodshed.

Thus the highest form of generalship is to balk the enemy’s plans; #

I think there are two things that are possible here.

1. China’s leadership was involved in the planning of this.

2. China was as surprise as anyone else what took place,
particularly in China.

China has taken a big hit from this. Many people died. The
costs and disruption were gigantic.

The interruption in the economy inside China was massive.

China is also going to lose a lot of business after this
settles down.

In essence, China is going to experience a brave new world
with a heck of a lot less foreign money being pumped in.

I think the negative impact on China is going to be
massive.

It may never be the same.

It has had an economic earthquake. The damage is done, and
it’s not going to be undone.

The U. S has taken a hit, but I think it will bounce back
a lot faster and more complete than China will.

Yes, the Tsun Tsu guidelines could have been utilized, but
I tend to doubt it. China had a lot going for it. Things
have not improved for China because of this.

I doubt it was a planned act.
