I don’t see many of the saber rattlers signing up to go fight. Another war in the Middle East would end up the same way as Afghanistan and Iraq with endless occupations that accomplish nothing. If you think the US is going to fight total war that obliterates the enemy, you are dreaming. Those days are long gone.

I invite you to read the book The Transformation of War by Martin Van Creveld. Check his credentials. He is no pacifist wimp.
I also have a grandson who is about to join the military. I don’t fancy his being sacrificed in futile conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, or anywhere else, for that matter. Let the Middle East settle its own problems. They can kill each other as long as there is one left standing, as far as I’m concerned. Get the US out.
