I still think this is act of war, that China seeded the virus throughout the periphery of the USA, and that they are waiting.
I said it from the beginning, that China can’t be trusted to tell the truth about corona-virus or anything else.
I guessing that their numbers of infected and dead are way beyond anything they’ve said.
My guess: millions infected in China with close to 1 million deaths and perhaps a lot more.

Real leverage would consist of being able to convince the Chinese public that Xi lied while they died - which is way Xi lied in the first place: to protect his own hide.

I agree with you completely.
In 1945 we nearly annihilated a nation for less death to our people at Pearl Harbor.
In 2001 we infringed on our own civil rights and called the enemy a religion of peace, after less death to our people on 9/11.
In 2020? “Much respect.” 5000 deaths and climbing.

Nope. That’s old, outdated info. They no longer have that capability...if they ever did. They are a debtor nation with debt to GDP somewhere around 400% by now, and that’s being conservative. They bought US treasuries to make the dollar strong vs the yuan for trade advantages. Selling what Treasuries they have left would put downward pressure on the dollar in normal times...but we aren’t living in normal times. The US dollar is king right now.
