interesting question,though this money is neither SS nor Medicaid, so unless they’ve written something into their contract about automatically getting to scarf up any other kind of money, i would think they’d not be able to touch it ... the stimulus money should be direct deposited into her bank account, so don’t see how they could extract it unless they have power of attorney or joint custody of the account ...

They didn’t reduce her Social Security check value, the full amount is still deposited into her account every month. They just limit how much the nursing home can charge her, which is equal to all it minus $40. There’s no way that amount even comes close to the cost of her care. The nursing home gets money to make up the difference from Medicaid.

Basically, they take everything. They can even take her house but hers is valued so low that they probably won’t fool with it.
