I don’t think so. Migrants have been coming from Mexico to Michigan since at least as the late-1950’s to work the farms, especially the cherry orchards. But my understanding then was they were coming in the spring and going back and the end of harvest.
That’s also when cars are found on blocks after their tires are stolen. Every year in my farm community it was the same thing in Ohio.
Yup, back in the day, they truly were migrants. Now they just stay here and get unemployment in the off season.
