Hydroxychloroquine rated 'most effective therapy' by doctors for coronavirus: Global survey
The Washington Times ^ | 4/2/2020 | Valerie Richardson

An international poll of more than 6,000 doctors released Thursday found that the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine was the most highly rated treatment for the novel coronavirus.

The survey conducted by Sermo, a global health care polling company, of 6,227 physicians in 30 countries found that 37% of those treating COVID-19 patients rated hydroxychloroquine as the “most effective therapy” from a list of 15 options.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave chloroquine and its next-generation derivative, hydroxychloroquine, emergency-use authorization Monday for treating the novel coronavirus, although the drug was already being used off-label by some doctors and hospitals for COVID-19 patients.

The survey also found that the most commonly prescribed treatments are analgesics (56%), azithromycin (41%) and hydroxychloroquine (33%).

But, Cuomo not allowing Doctors to prescribe in NY.

Killing his own people.

Presidential timber?

I don’t think so.

I just followed the link to the survey. I'll try to read it more thoroughly than when I simply just posted this link.

“no one asks during the white house press briefings anything about the status of these drug trials”

Excellent point. Most of the questions are about petty politics, not important medical information. These “reporters” are wastes of good oxygen.

They don’t “represent” me, they don’t ask ANY questions that help me or provide relevant information for me and my family.

If orange man is proven right about hydrochloroquine, it will be disaster for Biden’s election in 2020.

Horribly, I think you’re right about that. I think this will have a pretty big impact.

The empirical evidence should be the factor, but ‘everybody’s doing it’ will likely rule the day.

...,l Vitamin C (500 BID), Zn (75‐100mg/day) and Quercetin (500‐1000 mg/day) may have a role in high risk populations

For asymptomatic, preinfection augmented immunity

Yes, but it is most effective used early, and can be used prophylacticly.

See this video, contact your doctor to see if it can be available to you if infected. If not call around..

EXCELLENT NEWS: Hydroxychloroquine Treatment Effective on 699 Patients

Dr. Vladimir (Zev) Zelenko

Board Certified Family Practitioner

501 Rt 208, Monroe, NY 10950

845-238-0000

March 23, 2020

To all medical professionals around the world:

My name is Dr. Zev Zelenko and I practice medicine in Monroe, NY. For the last 16 years, I have cared for approximately 75% of the adult population of Kiryas Joel, which is a very close knit community of approximately 35,000 people in which the infection spread rapidly and unchecked prior to the imposition of social distancing.

As of today my team has tested approximately 200 people from this community for Covid-19, and 65% of the results have been positive. If extrapolated to the entire community, that means more than 20,000 people are infected at the present time. Of this group, I estimate that there are 1500 patients who are in the high-risk category (i.e. >60, immunocompromised, comorbidities, etc).

Given the urgency of the situation, I developed the following treatment protocol in the pre-hospital setting and have seen only positive results:

1. Any patient with shortness of breath regardless of age is treated.

2. Any patient in the high-risk category even with just mild symptoms is treated.

3. Young, healthy and low risk patients even with symptoms are not treated (unless their circumstances change and they fall into category 1 or 2).

My out-patient treatment regimen is as follows:

1. Hydroxychloroquine 200mg twice a day for 5 days

2. Azithromycin 500mg once a day for 5 days

3. Zinc sulfate 220mg once a day for 5 days

The rationale for my treatment plan is as follows. I combined the data available from China and South Korea with the recent study published from France (sites available on request). We know that hydroxychloroquine helps Zinc enter the cell. We know that Zinc slows viral replication within the cell. Regarding the use of azithromycin, I postulate it prevents secondary bacterial infections. These three drugs are well known and usually well tolerated, hence the risk to the patient is low.

Since last Thursday, my team has treated approximately 350 patients in Kiryas Joel and another 150 patients in other areas of New York with the above regimen.

Of this group and the information provided to me by affiliated medical teams, we have had ZERO deaths, ZERO hospitalizations, and ZERO intubations. In addition, I have not heard of any negative side effects other than approximately 10% of patients with temporary nausea and diarrhea.

In sum, my urgent recommendation is to initiate treatment in the outpatient setting as soon as possible in accordance with the above. Based on my direct experience, it prevents acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), prevents the need for hospitalization and saves lives.

With much respect,

Dr. Zev Zelenko

I guess the wording about the % is worded weirdly- it still doesn’t account, the way the article is written, for the 63% of other doctors- only that some of perhaps the same 37% found zinc to be second best- or maybe some of the other 63% also voted finding zinc second best- that still doesn’t answer the question what they found to be more effective than Hydroxy

My mind is swimming today (Brain fog) so maybe I’m reading it wrong-

[[37% of those treating COVID-19 patients rated hydroxychloroquine as the “most effective therapy” from a list of 15 options.]]

There was a list of options- 15 of them- but only 37% of doctors voted for Hydroxy as most effective- that leaves 63% that voted for something else that they felt was more effective- if I’m reading that right-

I’ve not heard of anything more effective than Hydroxy so far- I know they are testing some drugs, much more expensive ones- but no word on whether they work better than Hydroxy so far that I’m aware of-

I was just curious what the other docs thought worked better than hydroxy- The article doesn’t say unfortunately-

RE: Outside the U.S., hydroxychloroquine was equally used for diagnosed patients with mild to severe symptoms whereas in the U.S. it was most commonly used for high risk diagnosed patients,”

I don’t know what they mean by high risk patients as they are used in the USA, But Dr. Raoult’s 2 studies on over 100 patients tell us that the most effective use of HCQ + Azithromycin is when patients

* Are tested to be CoVid-19 positive
And
* Display fever, cough and other symptoms but are NOT yet intubated.

With those two conditions, patients on this drug combo get well, typically wuyhin 5 to 6 days, lessening the burden on hospitals and healthcare workers.

Whether it is effective on reversing the conditions of those already on respirators remains anecdotal.

I don’t know how America’s “high risk” patient group is defined.

what state if you don’t mind my asking? NY? (If no, then you don’t have to answer- just say no, not NY)

Just curious because NY Cuomo issued an executive order banning it’ use outside of his trials

Thanks We have Zinc, not querctiin though- but fro mwhat i gather, zinc needs HydroxyChloriquine in order to open the virus cells up for the zinc to penetrate, and do it’s virus killing job- don’t know if that’s true or not- just what I’ve read-

Ok. I gleaned this from the linked survey. Can anybody 'splain why adding up the columns goes over 100%? I don't get it. I just listed the top 4. There are actually 15 rows.

Of the medications you have personally prescribed or have seen used, please indicate which ones are most effective

[[no one asks during the white house press briefings anything about the status of these drug trials]]

And noone in the press is asking “Why is NY Denying peopel the right to get HydroxyChloriquine unless they are in the trial? 1000’s are dying- we know the drug is workign from many studies and trials doen now- why is cuomo denying NY’ers the right to be prescribed the drug?”

From Cuomo’s EO:

No pharmacist shall dispense hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine except when written as prescribed for an FDA-approved indication; or as part of a state approved clinical trial related to COVID-19 for a patient who has tested positive for COVID-19, with such test result documented as part of the prescription. No other experimental or prophylactic use shall be permitted, and any permitted prescription is limited to one fourteen day prescription with no refills.

Yup- He’s allowing people to die while he runs his little 100 patient clinical trial- Thankfully SOME brave doctors are ignoring his executive order- but I’m guessing not many are- Reporters should be asking the President Why Cuomo thinks he has the right to do this? Or why michigan gov and others think they have the right? They are guilty of negligent hom icide by withholding drugs that are proving very quickly to be life saving drugs-
