It’s not. H1N1 hit children and the middle aged. COVID 19 hits mostly the elderly who already have pre existing conditions. Imagine having a massive heat wave with on air conditioning. Something similar would happen.
Perhaps its more infectious, but its death rate is miniscule.
So I’m the 1 in 8 in my country who think the whole damn thing is over blown, and not worth shutting an economy down for.

This appears to be true. It also appears to be that for this “elderly” begins around age 50, and “pre-existing condition” includes things like ever having had high blood pressure even if currently under control - an issue that a third of American adults have had. “Pre-existing conditions”, as this has been applied, commonly includes conditions that are so minor and so mild that the infected aren’t even aware they have them, or are sub-clinical.
Context is everything.
