Amid what its calling an urgent need for blood, the Food and Drug Administration revised its blood donor guidelines on Thursday, significantly easing the restrictions on men who have sex with men.
The new guidelines reduce the donation deferral period for sexually active gay and bisexual men from 12 months to three, meaning these otherwise healthy men will now have to abstain from same-sex sexual activity for 90 days before they are eligible to donate blood.
Other 12-month deferral periods have also been shortened under the new guidelines, including those for people who have traveled to areas with certain endemic diseases, those who have engaged in injection drug use and people who have participated in commercial sex work.

HIV is the poofter badge of courage, proof they took one from the team, and has been wrapped up in civil rights on the Left since almost the moment it appeared in this country.
As for CV19, it wasnt too many days ago that we had a thread hereabouts where some Spanish homosexuals threw an orgy, invited 30 people (less than 10 showed up), and when the cops showed up at the party to arrest them for breaking quarantine efforts they apparently thought theyd shown up for the party.
But your status isnt influenced by Left Wing views on civil rights.
Between that and stuff like TB from having human crap in the streets how bad is San Fransisco gonna get?
Now, the FDA has approved blood donations by people at high-risk of having HIV. It is safe, they say, because they will test the donated blood.
This is criminal crazy. People at high-risk should continue to be disqualified from giving blood. Keep their blood out of the system - don't rely on testing to find the tainted blood.
Innocent people will die that didn't have to die.
The surgeon general has asked people to keep donating blood when hes been part of the task force briefings.
Were not likely to see a repeat of Clintons prison blood scandal since testing and filtering are more sophisticated in 2020 compared to his days as a governor in Arkansas
Because some experts are saying its ok. Godlessness is going to kill us all.
The part that pisses me off is that I doubt people who got Mad Cow disease over 25 years ago would still be alive today. And yet if you lived in Europe, you’re still banned because there is still a chance you got mad cow disease over there, according to the experts.
You know, until I learned about how people crapped on the streets of various cities, I thought that was an obsolete medieval practice. That practice helped make numerous diseases way more dangerous. Wastewater treatment effectively prevents almost all waterborne diseases, especially malaria and typhoid nowadays, and now people do the disgusting practice that spread diseases back in the old days.
They are unhappy that more people did not get CV, so now they want more infected with AIDS.
What is the urgent need for blood? People are postponing elective surgery, and surely there are much fewer automobile accidents with much fewer people on the roads.
How about restricting the blood to gay donees first, to see how that goes...
That’s not a feeling, that’s a fact. Anyone with a suppressed immune system is at high risk.
I was reading a novel recently and the author described a town on a river, where your social standing was determined by how far up the river you lived. If you were rich or powerful, you got to live on the upper part of the river and get your water before everyone else had pooped in it!
IMO, Trump is pretty busy. I am far more irritated at the people at the FDA who would even allow this, and in his own cabinet who aren’t bringing it to the President’s desk.
That may be happening (it is being taken to Trump for approval) but I have not heard anything.
I have personally met Tolerance Sucks Rocks, and I doubt this is just posturing on his part or making a point although I do feel it is a valid point.
I feel pretty certain TSR made the point because he is excluded for somewhat the same reason HIV+ people had been excluded, and he has had, and has, a genuine desire to donate.
I personally would be a lot more comfortable taking blood from a cancer survivor such as TSR than someone who is HIV+.
That just seems like insanity (and illogical to not allow one but to allow the other) to me.
We do not need filthy sodomite bodily fluids.
I find things like this make my blood boil.
Because it isn’t “science”. If it were “science” neither cancer survivors nor HIV+ people would be allowed to donate.
But one group is allowed, and the other isn’t. The answer why seems obvious to me.
A large and vocal lobby.
It has apparently started happening in Austin.
Replacing a simple preventative exclusion with a complex one isnt a good bet. Homosexuals make up a tiny percentage of the population, just exclude them, actively prosecute any who lie in order to give blood, and be done with them.
This isnt about increasing the blood supply, but about normalizing these culturally cherished perverts.
This is COMPLETELY OUTRAGEOUS. Our national blood supply is TOTALLY RUINED.
Next time you need a transfusion, you *will* get HIV and so will your spouse.
Who the Hell is running this country?
Trump should countermand this, they are DESPERATE to make everyone deathly ill.
