I don’t understand what Trump means when he says the federal government needs the ventilators? Does anyone here have an answer? I’m almost siding with the questioners I don’t understand why they’re not given out to the states? Please if you’re reading this, I am on Trump’s side, but I think he needs to be clearer on this issue.
I'm sure he means VA hospitals, military hospitals, large ships at sea, and then the "stockpile" to be tactically moved when a sudden need arises.
It's out of this stockpile that states in need will get ventilators.
Remember when Cuomo said he didn't know that the ventilators from the federal stockpile were sitting in the New York state stockpile in the warehouse in New Jersey?
That was an example of a state having a stockpile, and the federal government having a stockpile, too.

There are federal needs. Every federal hospital. Every military hospital in the US and overseas. Every hospital on every naval vessel.
Think of it as BACKUP inventory for the States...or the Phillipines, etc.
“I dont understand why theyre not given out to the states?”
Because whiney Cuomo demands more and leaves his own sitting on the shelf.
Because dumb governors are greedy and want to hoard. Literally no hospitals are short of ventilators. Trump is reserving a certain amount that he can deliver quickly if/when a city or region becomes a hot spot and needs them.
If he parceled them out to the governors those dummies would refuse to share the extra they aren’t using.
Some places suddenly need vents and the feds keep stockpile so they can stat get vents to them. Some states will keep vents hoarded just in case and they are not in use.
Guess what its like to get the vents for some other state. The patient would be dead by the time you got vents. Trust Trump, the feds need a stockpile.
VA Hospitals need ventilators. Walter Reed needs ventilators. Washington DC needs ventilators. Federal Prison hospitals need ventilators.
That’s just off the top of my head. Wouldn’t surprise me if Puerto Rico relies entirely on Uncle Sam for ventilators.
About 200 hospitals are operated by the federal government in the United States. These hospitals provide care for routine medical and surgical problems for specific patient populations, such as active military personnel. The Department of Defense, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Veterans Health Administration oversee these hospitals.
