State lawmakers voted early Monday to hike Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s salary to $250,000 by 2021.

The Senate approved the pay raise for Cuomo and Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul at 2:45 a.m. and the Assembly followed at 7 a.m.

Under the measure, Cuomo’s $200,000 salary this year will increase to $225,000 in 2020 and $250,000 in 2021, which would make him the highest-paid governor in the nation.

As much as I detest Cuomo...I’m OK with giving the governor (as a position) a pay raise. I think 20% per year for two years is a bit over the top.

However, I do believe that the Governor (as a position) should be removed from the State Pension System. That should also apply to ALL elected positions at EVERY level of NY government.

In the governor’s (as a position) defense, being the governor of NY is not the same as other less densely populated locations with more FedGov controlled lands.

As an exiled New Yorker, by way of a career in the military, I am not a fan of NY at all. I’ve never cared for the Cuomo family and don’t understand why anyone feels the need to elect or hire children of politicians. However, I wouldn’t work as the Governor of NY for less than $250K/yr either. That is a big state with a lot of moving pieces, an international border, a massive city, and more leftists than I’d ever want to deal with.

Gov. Cuomo is not a good governor for the state and has driven out business like his predecessors, but the people elected him. I think there is something in the water up there...
