Actually 6,000. To run the ship it requires 3000. The other 3000 take care of the air group.

I've been on a hanger deck. There were more than a few hundred. I'd guess closer to 2,000, or more. The videos don't show the entire group cheering for Captain Crozier. There were a lot more than shown.
