I’ve watched several Task Force briefings, and I think you’ve mischaracterized Fauci’s statements regarding testing. Fauci (and Brix too) has said, from almost the beginning, that testing was the key to ending the lockdowns. There have been about 2 million tests done so far — Fauci simply pointed out the obvious about universal testing: it would require well over 300 million tests, and those tests would have to be repeated from time-to-time. IMHO, the strategy of targeted testing, when the “mitigation” (read lockdowns) phase is over, and the “surveillance” phase begins. During the surveillance phase (maybe just a couple of weeks away), anyone suspected of having the disease will be tested, and all of their contacts will be tracked and tested. That seems like a sound and doable strategy.
