For 25 years since he immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 18, Jeffrey Lau never felt he needed to purchase a firearm. But the coronavirus outbreak changed his mind: he bought his first gun in early March to protect his family.
To slow the spread of COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, public health orders have been keeping people indoors, causing businesses to struggle and the loss of jobs. Food and supplies have run out in stores regularly. Many worry chaos and violence would ensue in the event of mass panic.

Gotta fight off those whod attack them because of the CHINESE Virus
I mean there are just so many reports of that!!
[But Asian Americans had historically low rates of gun ownership, according to Asian Fortune News. Taehyun Kim, mass communications professor at California State University, Northridge, explained the historical and cultural context of guns in Asia.
According to Kim, guns conjured a negative image. They were used by colonizers or western merchants as a weapon of oppression, forcing some Asian countries to open their borders. Martial arts techniques that require years of practice were more respected than using guns during combat at that time.]
I did not know you could still BUY a firearm in California. They certainly have tried to put a chokehold on ammunition and large-capacity magazines.
Nothing fancy when it comes to home defense. Always fire at center-of-mass, no razzle-dazzle stuff like shooting the assailant’s weapon out of their hand.
[We feel like the leaders decisions are not in our favor. They are not protecting us, Lam said, citing the presidents tweets. We all demand correct, right information from our leader so we can follow.]
FWIW, I was TDY in LA during the ‘92 riots. = Things in LA would have been MUCH WORSE, imVho, had it NOT been for the brave Koreans, who defended their shops & neighbors.
Those men/women had GUTS, to take on the arsonists, robbers & other violent criminals W/O LAPD help.

Gee, With record gun sales for the month of March wouldnt the journalist Yu also suspect that some of the first time gun owners are Caucasians?
Where are the articles on that?
Exactly what my first thoughts were when I read this.
But after jumping through all the hoops to get a handgun in California they are “shocked, SHOCKED!” to find they still have to wait ten whole days before they can pick it up.
From Frank Zappa’s “Freak Out:”
Wednesday I watched the riot
I’ve seen the cops out on the street
Watch them throwing rocks and stuff and choking in the heat
Listen to reports
About the whiskey passin’ round
Seen the smoke and fire
And the market burnin’ down
Watched while everybody on his street would take a turn
They stomp and smash and bash and crash and slash and bust ‘n burn
And I’m watching and I’m waitin hopin’ for the best
Even think I go to prayin’
Every time I hear em sayin’
That there’s no way to delay
That trouble comin’ every day
No way to delay
That trouble comin’ everyday
I particularly remember...
“Watched them throwin’ rocks and stuff
and chokin’ in the heat...”
Yeah, they cheer the regulations until it affects them.
Hopefully, we have a whole bunch of new 2 A supporters on our team
A Vietnamese buddy of mine at work was harassed by a group of ‘yutes’ while going to Sam’s the other day. Calling him cuss names in VN lingo. Not cool.
He just kept his head down and went into the store because he didn’t want a beat down.
I suggested that’s why people in TX do the CC. I think I may suggest he (and his family) stock up, because things could get ugly.
