CDC HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE PRESCRIPTION ADVICE REMOVED AFTER 'UNUSUAL' MOVE TO ISSUE GUIDELINES WITHOUT STRONG EVIDENCE

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reportedly taken down advice for doctors on prescribing a controversial anti-malarial drug to treat COVID-19 patients.

Hydroxychloroquine and its analog chloroquine has been used experimentally on coronavirus patients as there is currently no specific drug or vaccine against the disease.

The Reuters news agency reported that the CDC website previously stated on its "Information for Clinicians on Therapeutic Options for Patients with COVID-19" page: "Although optimal dosing and duration of hydroxychloroquine for treatment of COVID-19 are unknown, some U.S. clinicians have reported anecdotally" on how to use it.

Currently, the "Therapeutic Options" page of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) section of the CDC's website states: "There are no drugs or other therapeutics approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to prevent or treat COVID-19.

"Current clinical management includes infection prevention and control measures and supportive care, including supplemental oxygen and mechanical ventilatory support when indicated."

It goes on to state that Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel plan to soon provide "interim guidelines for the medical management of COVID-19."

The page outlines treatments being investigated, including hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine and the unapproved anti-viral drug remdesivir. The CDC states the anti-malarial drugs "are under investigation in clinical trials."

Dr. Lynn Goldman, dean of the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University, told Reuters it was "very unusual" for the CDC to publish advice based on anecdotes.

Over the weekend, Reuters cited two unidentified sources to report that the CDC issued guidance for doctors on prescribing chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine after the president pressured federal health officials to make the drugs available for COVID-19 patients. The document reportedly called "Information for Clinicians on Treatment Options for COVID-19 Patients" presented hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine as potential treatments.

Disgusting. Another example of the medical elites refusing to accept new treatments, and/or simply venting against Trump.

Congress should investigate the deliberate rejection of a potent medicine; but it won’t, of course.

Here’s my take on this...

If anyone doesn’t want HCQ administered on him or her, nobody is forcing them to use it.

The decision has to be left up to the patient and his/her doctor.

What ever happened to being PRO-CHOICE?

A beltway public health ‘expert’ weighs in. I will bet this person is EITHER not an MD, or if an MD, not a practicing one.

I could be wrong but if I had to bet, I would bet the above.

Well, the title “Doctor” is attached to the name.

To stop the return of manufacturing of products back to the US that went to China. China backers are using that Trump alleged stock ownership claim as a controlling interest in a product they claim to be totally ineffective when used to treat a disease created to create a severe restriction of movement known as a shutdown because of its transmission .

I am a Doctor too, a PhD one.

Medical doctors have ‘M.D.’ follow their name.

I could dig and check but in the interest of time I’ll just bet.

Sounds like a CDC internal terrorist has decided to reverse the position the CDC took last week. 10 to 1 this was an individual act of resistance by a swamp creature.

“Currently, the “Therapeutic Options” page of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) section of the CDC’s website states: “There are no drugs or other therapeutics approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to prevent or treat COVID-19.

“Current clinical management includes infection prevention and control measures and supportive care, including supplemental oxygen and mechanical ventilatory support when indicated.””

What ever happened to being PRO-CHOICE?

And what happened to "liberalism", "tolerance", and "diversity"? Would the central planning committee prefer if any of the very expensive HIV drugs becomes a mainstream off-label treatment for the Wuhan plague? Or do they need these drugs for "they" and their "wife"?

Bet this was one CDC anti-Trump resister sabotaging the website and not an official act. Look for this to be reversed very very quickly.

You have to have patients who know they have a 50-50% chance of having an effective parachute. Otherwise they might skew the study thinking they can fly when they cannot and so they might survive without a parachute when they wouldn’t if they had known they didn’t have a parachute. /s/
